NEPAL RASTRA BANK
 Established in 1956 AD under the Nepal
Rastra Bank Act 1955 AD.
 Head Quarter located at Baluwatar,
Kathmandu.
 Current Governer is Yubaraj Khatiwada.
 Uses Nepali rupee (NRP) as currency.
 Website - www.nrb.org.np
 It has seven regional offices, located
at Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Pokhara, Sid
dharthanagar, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadi.
VISION & MISSION
 Vision:- “To become A modern, dynamic,
credible and effctive central bank.”
 Mission:- “To maintain macro-economic
stability through sound and effective
monetary, foreign exchange and financial
sector policies.”
ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE
 Governor - Appointed by the Government of
Nepal.
 Secretary, Ministry of Finance.
 Two Deputy Governors - Appointed by the
Government of Nepal.
 Three Directors - Appointed by the
Government of Nepal.
OBJECTIVE

 To formulate necessary monetary and foreign


exchange policies.
 To promote stability and liquidity required in
banking and financial sector.
 To develop a secure, healthy and efficient
system of payment.
 To regulate, inspect, supervise and monitor
the banking and financial system.
 To promote entire banking and financial
system of Nepal.
FUNCTION
 Issue bank notes and coins.
 Formulate necessary monetary policies in order to
maintain price stability.
 Formulate foreign exchange policies.
 Determine the system of foreign exchange rate.
 Manage and operate foreign exchange reserve.
 Issue license to commercial banks and financial
institutions.
 Act as a banker, advisor and financial agent of
Government of Nepal.
 Act as the banker of commercial banks and financial
institutions.
