Exercise 1: Solve right triangles
Given a right triangle with an angle of 30 degrees and a hypotenuse of length 10 units, find the
lengths of the two legs (adjacent and opposite) and calculate the values of sine, cosine, and tangent for
the 30-degree angle

Length of the adjacent side (base):

H= 10 units Length of the opposite side (height);
Sine (sin) of 30 degrees:
Cosine (cos) of 30 degrees:
30°
Tangent (tan) of 30 degrees:

Exercise 2: Trigonometric identities

Exercise 3: Trigonometric function
evaluation
Evaluate the value of cos(π/3) without using a calculator

Exercise 4: Solving trigonometric
equations
Solve the equation

2sin(x) - 1 = 0 for 0° ≤ x < 360°

Answer here:

See the answers

Answers here
Length of the adjacent side (base): ≈ 5.00 units
Length of the opposite side (height): ≈ 2.50 units
Exercise 1 Sine (sin) of 30 degrees: ≈ 0.50
Cosine (cos) of 30 degrees: ≈ 0.87
Tangent (tan) of 30 degrees: ≈ 0.58

Exercise 2 The identity sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1 is a fundamental trigonometric identity known as the
Pythagorean Identity. It holds true for all angles x in the unit circle

Exercise 3 To evaluate cos(π/3), use the 30-60-90 special triangle. In this triangle, the cosine of 30 degrees (π/6
radians) is √3/2. Since π/3 is twice the angle of π/6, the cosine of π/3 is also √3/2

To solve the equation, isolate sin(x) by adding 1 to both sides and then dividing by 2:
2sin(x) - 1 + 1 = 0 + 1
Exercise 4 2sin(x) = 1
sin(x) = 1/2
The solutions for the equation in the given interval are x = 30° and x = 150°
