Skill Related Fitness

BALANCE
- ability to adjust your body position to remain upright. It
deals with proprioception, or knowing where your body is
in space, and being able to make adjustments to your
position as your center of gravity changes during
movement.

WHAT IS PHYSICAL

ASSESSMENT?
PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT?
- a series of tests that
measures and monitors
students' physical fitness
level. The series of tests
assess the five components
of physical fitness that
make up total fitness:
cardiovascular endurance,
muscular strength,
muscular endurance,
flexibility, and body
composition.
Why we need to assess
our physical fitness
capabilities?

- evaluating your fitness level can


help establish attainable fitness
goals. To set realistic fitness goals
you should assess your current
level of fitness. You may set
attainable goals for enhancing your
physical fitness and health by
being aware of where you stand
right now in these areas.
How can we perform
Physical Fitness
Assessment?
PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT FOR SKILL
RELATED FITNESS (BALANCE)
Procedure:
1. Remove the shoes and place the hands on the
hips, then position the
non-supporting foot against the inside knee of the
supporting leg.
2. Raises the heel to balance on the ball of the foot.
3. The stopwatch is started as the heel is raised from
the floor.
4. The total time in seconds is recorded. The score is
the best of three
attempts. The table lists general ratings for this test.
PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT FOR HEALTH
RELATED FITNESS (FLEXIBILITY)
Procedure:
1. Place one hand behind the head and back
over the shoulder and reach as far as
possible down the middle of your back, your
palm touching your body and the fingers
directed downwards.
2. Place the other arm behind your back,
palm facing outward and fingers upward and
reach up as far as possible attempting to
touch the fingers of each hand.
Instructions:
• You are going to find your pair or partner for the
activity.
• You will be task to perform an assessment or test for
flexibility (health related fitness) and balance (skill
related fitness).
• You will be given 20 minutes to finish the test.
• The performance will be evaluated based on the
following rubrics.
Each group will be graded according to the rubric:
