    MODIFIERS

    Modifiers are words or lengthy phrase that says


    something specific about a word or another phrase.
    Modifiers should be as close as possible to the word(s)
    they modify.
     Adverbs verb, adjectives and another adverb

    Adjectives noun or pronoun


    Misplaced Modifiers

    Misplaced modifiers are words


    that, because of awkward placement,
    do not describe what the writer
    intended them to describe.
    Misplaced modifiers can make a
    sentence confusing and funny.
    EXAMPLE

    Lost deep in a daydream, Ed’s boss startled him


    when she walked into his office.

    Dangling Modifiers

    Dangling modifiers are descriptive


    (adjectives) words, phrase or clause
    that open a sentence but do not
    describe what the author intended
    them to describe.
