1. TAJ MAHAL

• It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife Mumtaz Mahal.
• The Taj Mahal is widely recognised as “The jewel of Muslim art in India”.
• The Taj Mahal is the finest example of Mughal architecture , a style that combines
elements from Persian, Turkish and Indian architectural styles.
• In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO[United Nations,Educational scientific and
Cultural Organisation ] world heritage site.
• The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653 employing
thousands of artisans and craftsmen.
2. GOMMATESHWARA STATUE

• The place Shravanabelagola is famous for its Gommateshwara Temple also


known as Bahubali Temple.
• The 57 feet tall statue of Bahubali is located on Vindhyagiri Hill.
• The base of this statue has an inscription which praises the king who funded the
effort and his general Chavundaraya.
• The Bahubali statue is Magnificent in form of its 57 feet high monolithic statue
built around 982 A.D.
• The Gommateshwara statue can be viewed at a distance of 30 km.
3. KONARK SUN TEMPLE

• The magnificent temple was therefore built to glorify ‘Surya’. The sun god at Konark.
• The temple of Sun god, Surya, the source of life, origin of light, the dispelled of
darkness and sin the source and instrument of purity and health is unique in its
construction.
• The plan was that of genious and iys scale was too great for its execution.
• It is located 35 km from puri and 65 km from bhubaneswar .
• The Temple was built on the mouths of the river Chandrabhaga, but later waterline
receded.
4. SRI HARMANDIR SAHIB OR GOLDEN TEMPLE

• Sri Harmandir Sahib also known as Sri Darbar Sahib or Golden Temple
(on account of its scenic beauty and golden coating for English
speaking world) is named after Hari (God ) the temple of God.
• The temple stands in Amritsar, the Holy City of the Sikhs.
• It is the most famous Sikh temple in the world. It is a very sacred place.
• It symbolizes the magnificence and strength of Sikhs all over the world.
• Sikhs pay their respect and worship for the Guru Granth Sahib (holy
book).
5. STONE CHARIOT, HAMPI

• The Chariot is actually a shine dedicated to Garuda, which you see inside the complex
of Vijaya Vittala Temple.
• There used to be a massive sculpture of Garuda seated atop the Chariot but now, it is
a ruin.
• The Vittala Temple in Hampi is an ancient monument that is well -known for its
exceptional and unmatched Craftsmanship .
• The iconic structure has amazing stone structures such as the incomparable Stone
Chariot and the fascinating musical pillars.
6. RUINS OF NALANDA UNIVERSITY

• This University was established by Kumaragupta in 450 th BC and burnt by a turk ruler
Bakhtiyar khalji in 12th century.
• And again it’s remains was discovered by Alexander Kaningham and it’s Ruins we’re
founded in 14 hectare in which all buildings was constructed by Red sandstones.
• There are so many remains of Buddha and Mahavira statue are present here in the Nalanda
museum.
• The temple no.3 is the main temple of the university, from which you can see all the
university and this temple is surrounded by small stupa which contains buddha statue in
different styles.
7. LAKSHMAN TEMPLE

• The Kings of the Chandella dynasty patronized the arts and built many Temples,
palaces and complex irrigation systems.
• Khajuraho has 20 large Temples alone. The Temples were dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu
and Surya.
• Devotees approach from the east and walk around in circumambulation in clockwise
direction.
• The temple is raised in tier of sculptured excellence with stone carvings of griffins,
Nymphs, gods, demons & couples.
