Welcome to SAP
• SAP is an ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) system .
• SAP - means System, Applications and Products.
• There is n number of ERP softwares in market today, of
which SAP is used in medium to large enterprises.
• SAP is a leader when it comes to easy integration among all
departments.
Your Career In SAP

SAP is the world’s largest provider of enterprise application software, and they’re still growing at a steady clip.
According to SAP’s 2019 corporate fact sheet more than 437,000 customers in 180 countries use the company’s
services.

• SAP customers include:

• 92% of the Forbes Global 2000 companies
• 98% of the 100 most valued brands

• Their customers distribute:

• 78% of the world’s food
• 82% of the world’s medical devices

• 77% of the world’s transaction revenue touches an SAP system

Why Your Career In SAP

SAP implementation is a very complex yet organized process. It is a process that needs excellent skills and knowledge.
Some of the benefits people choose a career in SAP technology include:
• On the job learning
• Financial stability
• In demand
• Interesting profession
• Challenging tasks
• Transfer of skills
As you choose your career in SAP, the route you take will also depend on whether you are aiming at technical or functional roles. You can go
for programming if you are more inclined to programming. On the other hand, functional is for you if you like dealing with daily activities
and the needs of clients
Lets talk about SAP

• SAP SE is a German company found in 1972 that creates software for enterprise resource planning

processes.

• The most used version of SAP is SAP ECC known as SAP ERP Central Component.

• SAP S/4HANA is the latest version of SAP and also the future of the customers using SAP.

• SAP ERP is build using the ABAP (Advanced Business Application Programming) language and the

focus of this internship is learning ABAP ☺

• SAP has a client server architecture.

• Users can access SAP system in two ways:-

1.Through SAP GUI
2.Through Web browser
Lets talk about SAP

• SAP R/3 is a 3 tier architecture consisting of 3 layers:

1.Presentation
2.Application
3.Database
• R signifies Real-time system, 3 represents – 3-tier
architecture.

• The Presentation Layer contains the software

components that make up the SAPgui (graphical user
interface). This layer is the interface between the R/3
System and its users. The R/3 System uses the SAPgui to
provide an intuitive graphical user interface for entering
and displaying data. The presentation layer sends the
user’s input to the application server, and receives data for
display from it. While a SAPgui component is running, it
remains linked to a user’s terminal session in the R/3
System.
Lets talk about SAP

• The Application Layer consists of one or more application

servers and a message server. Each application server contains
a set of services used to run the R/3 System. It uses this
information to assign an appropriate server when a user logs
onto the system.
• The Database Layer consists of a central database system
containing all of the data in the R/3 System. The database
system has two components – the database management
system (DBMS), and the database itself. SAP has manufactured
its own database named Hana but is compatible with all major
databases such as Oracle. All R/3 data is stored in the database.
For example, the database contains the control and customizing
data that determine how your R/3 System runs. It also contains
the program code for your applications. Applications consist of
program code, screen definitions, menus, function modules, and
various other components. These are stored in a special section
of the database called the R/3 Repository, and are accordingly
called repository objects. R/3 repository, objects are used in
ABAP workbench.
Understanding SAP

• Lets suppose you own a big pharmaceutical company in Albania and you want to implement SAP to

manage all the departments of it.

2. All the modules of SAP that the company bought

1. You buy the SAP system

and SAP licenses to access
the needs of your pharmaceutical company.
the system.
(Example: The way how the taxes are calculated in
Germany is different from the taxes in Albania).

3. At this point the company needs SAP consultants to do the customizations. The
SAP Consultants are divided in Technical, Functional, Basis.

SAP solutions include a number of functional modules, which support transactions to

execute key business processes.

•Finance (SAP FI) - Maintenance of Fiscal Year, Posting Periods, defining Document types, posting keys, Number
ranges for documents
•Controlling (SAP CO) - facilitates coordinating, monitoring, and optimizing all the processes in an organization.
•Human Resource Management (SAP HRM), also known as Human Resource (HR)-enter employee-related data

Sales & Distribution Management (SD)
is one of the most important modules in SAP.
SAP SD is used by organizations to support sales and Material Management (MM)
distribution activities of products and services, starting

Defining Pricing Components
Setting up sales document types, billing types, and tax-
related components
Setting up Customer master data records and
configuration
Human Resource (HR)
The most important objective of master data
administration in Human Resources is to
enter employee-related data for
administrative, time-recording, and payroll
purposes.

The HR module is comprised of major areas

of functionality known as sub-modules. The
HR module is a true demonstration of the
strength of the SAP product in Enterprise
Resource Planning.

The HR system has very strong integration

points (where data is passed back and forth
without human intervention) with just about
all of the other SAP modules. In addition,
there is very tight integration amongst the
HR sub-modules.
