The document discusses commitment and how to build it. It contrasts winners and losers, with winners being committed and seeing opportunities, while losers make excuses. It also includes a pledge of commitment template for readers to fill in qualities they wish to develop to become better teachers.

Commitment Building
What I have LEARNED…

What I will DO with the things
that I have learned… Pre se n ta ti o n There are two seas in Palestine. They are both very different. One is called the Sea of Galilee. It is a large lake with clean fresh water from which you can drink. Fish and people swim in it. It is surrounded by green fields and gardens. Many people have built their homes near to it. Jesus sailed across it many times. The other big body of water is called the Dead Sea, and it really lives up to its name. Everything about it is dead. The water is so salty that you would get sick from trying to drink it. It has no fish. Nothing grows along its banks. No one wants to live anywhere near because of its unpleasant smell. The interesting thing about both of these bodies of water is that the same river flows into both of them- the Jordan River. So what makes the difference? Just this: one receives and gives; the other receives and keeps. The Jordan River flows into the top of the Sea of Galilee and out the bottom. The lake used the water and then passes it on for others to use. The Jordan River then flows into the Dead Sea and never gets out again. The Dead Sea selfishly keeps it only for itself. This makes it dead. It gets and never gives. -John Marsabella Winners Versus Losers
♦ The Winner is always part of the answer;
The Loser is always part of the problem.
♦ The Winner says, "Let me do it for you";
The Loser says, "That is not my job."
♦ The Winner sees an answer for every problem;
The Loser sees a problem for every answer.
♦ The Winner says, " It may be difficult but it is possible";
The Loser says, "It may be possible but i t is too difficult."
♦ A Winner makes commitments;
A Loser makes promises. ♦ Winners say, "I must do something"; Losers say, "Something must be done." ♦ Winners see possibilities; Losers see problems. ♦ Winners see the potential; Losers see the past. ♦ Winners make it happen; Losers let it happen. ♦ Winners plan and prepare to win. The key word is preparation. - Unknown Pledge of Commitment I wish to become (Qualities of a an effective teacher that you desire) ____________________________
