GripTight High Pressure Test Plugs

Asia Pacific Sales Meeting 2015

Why Test Plugs?
• Test plugs are temporary end closures that simplify pressure testing piping systems,
pipe spools, pipe racks or pressure vessels
• Test Plugs are reusable – provide lowest Cost Per Test
• Test Plugs Eliminate 80% of time spent welding-on and cutting-off end caps
• Eliminates the time consuming process of pre-heat, post weld stress relieving re-beveling the
pipe
• Significantly reduces the cost per test – supported by DC2529

Why Test Plugs?

Example: 10” SC120 ASTM A-106 Gr B Pipe

Welding takes 2 welders 12 hours
GripTight plugs take 1 fitter ½ hour – Savings 11.25 hours per pipe end

GripTight Vent Assembly
• Evacuate / Vent Air From Test System Evacuate all the Air from the
System Prior to Testing
• The GripTight Vent Assembly provides the ability
to vent as much air as possible from a piping
system
• Testing with air present in a piping system or components
stores energy within the system
• ASME B31.1, 31.3 and ASME PCC-2 require placing GripTight Vent Assembly

vents at the high points of a piping system or vessel to

purge air during filling
• Best hydrostatic testing practice dictates as much air as
possible must be vented from all test components before
pressurization
• The GripTight Vent Assembly can be used to
collect test fluid from test systems
• Gives the ability to easily control test medium
• Contaminated fluids can be handled safely
• Allows operators to collect any special test medium, such
as glycol
• Increases safety by keeping test medium off scaffolding
and other walking surfaces Plug A Plug B

GripTight Safety Gag
• Provides
GripTight ® enhanced
Safety Gag safety during testing

GripTight Safety Gag

• In the event that a plugs pressure holding capabilities

are compromised due to unforeseen complications,
the Safety Gag is designed to prevent the plug from
exiting the designated testing area by limiting its
travel and changing its direction
