Self Reliance - Relying on self

Confirming to one’s will, interests, & capabilities

Not depending on others

Change should come from individual self

Self transformation should occur from one’s own


knowledge and belief
To explore one’s own capabilities and to indulge in self
oriented tasks

To gain self awareness and trust to understand, self and


society

To emerge with self confidence and work consistently to


reach the goal

Developing as a free thinker and possessing that attitude


to conform on it
• To review the tenets of society, community and religion

• Voicing inner thoughts rather blindly following others and larger society

• Taking care of one’s own responsibilities and liabilities

• To self solve personal and professional problems

• Having comprehensive knowledge on any subjects/pursuits


• Developing acute decision-making abilities and to stay stronger and confident in
judging self and others

• Creativity & productivity needs to be relentlessly exercised

• To have a definite aim and objective

• To work on to their mission and vision

• To meet their own personal, social and financial needs


To be more self disciplined and responsible

To be self directed in their pursuits

To be open to available opportunities and resources

Intrinsic & Extrinsic Motivation

• Motivation helps to make learn/work

• Recognition/Reward is one of the prime factors that drive intrinsic & extrinsic
motivation
• Identify your personal weakness/flaws if any.
• Prompting/inducing interests/ providing support and encouragement to
participate and perform

• Pampering sometimes helps/spoils

• Injustice, insult and humiliation triggers Intrinsic Motivation


• Self interest and focus drive for intrinsic motivation

• When one does for their own needs, personal happiness and inherent
satisfaction without expectation of external rewards is intrinsic motivation
• eg. Reading for pleasure

• When one does for other’s satisfaction/ honour/award/reward / to escape


warning/punishment/embarassment is extrinsic motivation
• eg. Reading for exams
