Agta People of the

Philippines

INTRODUCTION The Agta people are an indigenous group that live in the northeastern part of
Luzon, the largest island in the Philippines. They have a unique culture and
way of life that has been shaped by their history, environment, and
interactions with other cultures.
HISTORY

The Agta people have been living in the Philippines for thousands of years,
long before the arrival of Spanish colonizers in the 16th century. They have
maintained their culture and way of life through centuries of interactions
with other groups, including Chinese traders, Malay migrants, and Spanish
colonizers.
The Agta people live in the Sierra Madre mountain range in
GEOGRAPHY
northeastern Luzon, which is one of the most biodiverse regions in
the Philippines. The mountains are covered in tropical rainforest and
are home to a wide variety of plant and animal species.
CULTURE

The Agta people have a unique culture that is based on their


relationship with the environment. They have developed a deep
