What is an access key?

• Simply put, a passcode is a type of password that does not need to be entered,
protected, or remembered. Sounds great, right? But then, how do you
authenticate yourself when logging into your accounts? Well, simply by unlocking
your device.
• On a more technical level, access keys are based on the web authentication
standard and use public key cryptography. That means that when you create a
new account on a website or app, your device will create a pair of cryptographic
keys. These keys are incredibly complex and unique to your account. The public
key is stored on the website, while the private key, which is the authentic key,
resides securely on your device.

• On the next screen, you will be asked to save the passkey to iCloud Keychain. Tap “Continue” to
authenticate using Face ID or Touch ID. If you have not set up a biometric option, enter your
password.
• That’s all! You have successfully created and saved a passcode for your Google account on your
Apple device. You can now sign in to your Google Account simply by using facial recognition,
fingerprint recognition, or your password. You can also share your passwords securely with your
