ABSTRACT

 Need of indigenous jet engine in Indian fighter aircraft -:The development of a new high-thrust engine
will rid India of its crippling dependence on Russia and the West for engines to power its fighters. A
homegrown engine will raise the level of indigenous content in future Indian fighter jets and bring
down their cost significantly.
 Failure of Kaveri engine :-the Kaveri programme failed to satisfy the necessary technical requirements
or keep up with its envisaged timelines and was officially delinked from the Tejas programme in
September 2008. so F404-GE-IN20 is used in tejas.
 Make In India Concept :- If India develops own jet engine technology, then the cost of engine reduces
and the money in India remains in India. And jobs also get available for youth.
 In fighter air crafts and commercial aircraft aviation fuel use. Advantages of using butane gas over
aviation fuel is that low carbon emission and high efficiency due to high pressure.
INTRODUCTION

 A jet engine is a type of reaction engine discharging a fast-moving jet that

generates thrust by jet propulsion.
 While this broad definition can include rocket, water jet, and hybrid propulsion, the term jet
engine typically refers to an internal combustion air breathing jet engine such as
a turbojet, turbofan, ramjet, or pulse jet.
 In general, jet engines are internal combustion engines.
 In fighter air crafts and commercial aircraft aviation fuel use. Advantages of using butane
gas over aviation fuel is that low carbon emission and high efficiency due to high pressure.
DESIGN

1) Intake diameter - 120 mm

2)Compression diameter - 60 mm
3) Exhaust diameter – 34 mm
4) Shaft diameter – 6 mm
5) Total length - 300 mm

CONSTRUCTION
1) Electronic control panel :-We uses two switch for on/off the spark ignition and motor start/stop. Two batteries are
provided for motor and spark plug are 12 v and 4 v respectively.
2) Connections :- connections done by connecting wires and hoses for butane gas
3) Ignition and combustion of butane gas :- spark generated through spark plug and combustion of butane Gas takes

Complete assembly
WORKING PRINCIPLE
 The Jet Engine obtains its power by utilizing the energy of burnt
gases and the air which is at high temperature and pressure by
expanding through the several rings of fixed and moving blades.
 Its working is based on two fundamental laws,
1. Newton's Second law of motion
2. Newton's third law of motion
 A jet engine is a type of reaction engine discharging a fast-moving
jet that generates thrust by jet propulsion.
 In general, jet engines are internal combustion engines.
 The analysis of the jet engine is similar to that of the gas turbine

COMPONENTS
• Major components :- Include Major parts such as intake, compression,
combustion, exhaust, Motor, spark Plug, battery etc

• Auxiliary components :- connecting hoses and wires, switches, Supporting stand

circuits etc.
ADVANTAGES AND LIMITATIONS

 Advantages
 As compared to aviation fuel butane has low carbon emission and non toxic in nature. If
compared with aviation fuel it produces low globle warming.
 Butane gas is highly flammable and compressible in nature.

Limitations:-
1) We cannot run engine greater than 1 hour.
2) Temperature indicator is not providing so we need to measure temperature externally.
 3) Testing limitations.
APPLICATIONS

Rocket High speed cars Fighter jet

Heavy ships Trains

CONCLUSION
1. The jet engine is a fascinating piece of machinery, and though it’s basic principles
are very simple there are many difficulties to overcome to build one of your own
design.
2. There are many variables to control for, and many are not yet fully understood.
3. where experimental data and a good amount of trial and error is needed to push the
field forward.
4. By using comprssed fuel the effective combustion is effective .
5. As compared to aviation fuel butane has low carbon emission and non toxic in
nature. If compared with aviation fuel it produces low globle warming.
