WHAT IS A PROJECT ?
 A project is a group of tasks and activities followed to support the effort to accomplish a
goal.
 A project is a collection of linked activities carried out in an organized manner with a
clearly defined start point and end point to achieve the desired results to satisfy the
current and future needs of an organization.
 A project can be any undertaking which is carried out individually or as a group to
achieve the specific aim.
WHAT IS PROJECT MANAGEMENT
 Project Management is a dynamic process that utilizes the resources of the organization in
a structured and controlled manner to achieve the defined goals identified by the
organization.
 Project Management involves the uses of specific knowledge, skills ,tool, and techniques
to create value to the organization.
 The project management team is responsible for getting the project delivered within the
estimated time and allocated budget.
PURPOSE OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
 The primary purpose of project management is to predict , foresee, and eliminate the
dangers and problems that can occur during the project implementation period.

PROJECT INITIATION
 The first stage of transforming a meaningful idea into reality.
 Defines the project and the idea on a broader level.
 Creates a project charter which is a document which consists of the project goals,
constrains, timeline, and budget.
 Decides upon the key stakeholders and decision makers in the respective domains within
the project.
PROJECT PLANNING
 Lays out the roadmap of the entire project.
 Identifies the technical requirements of smooth functioning.
 Develops detailed project schedule to adhere to the timeline.
 Creates the specific point of contacts for specific concerns.
PROJECT EXECUTION
 Project execution phase is the phase where the actual work is getting done.
 Establishing the efficient workflows and monitoring the progress of the team.
 Maintaining coordination across several departments associated with the project.
PROJECT MONITORING AND CONTROLLING
 Ensures that there is no deviation from the initial plan on the execution.
 Tracks the progress after each stage in the project.
 Ensures that there is no error occurring in the processes which are taking place.
 Verifies whether the tasks are carried out meeting the expectation in terms of quality.
PROJECT CLOSING
 Indicates the end of the project after the final delivery.
 Completes the necessary paper works indicating the closure of the project in the defined
manner.
 Conducts a reflection meeting to assess the strength and weakness of the team for the
project for continuous improvement.
 Stores the sensitive information regarding the project in a secure space for future
reference.
