Which Materials are IM and WM
Managed?
Inventory Management (IM)
• Bulk, Outside Store, returnable packaging materials received
into storage location 2100 – 2999 range, 4000 range
– Received using MIGO transaction in SAP
– A Material Document is created to represent the movement of goods into
the plant / storage location
Warehouse Management (WM)
• All other materials, received into the warehouse storage
locations 1000, (3000)
– Inbound delivery created
– A Handling Unit is created in the Goods Receipt area to represent the
existence of goods in the warehouse and labels are printed
– A Transfer Order is created to put away received items

Batch Management

• The batch is created either at the time of receiving or at the time of


producing. A Shelf Life Expiration Date (SLED) is set manually or
calculated from the material master
• The batch represents one or many receipted handling units. If the
shelf life is different then a new batch is required
• In Keystone, the Batch for incoming goods will be generated as
internal number and any vendor batch will be recorded for Vendor

Batch Management (contd.)

• For the material produced in house, batch number will be provided


manually in a predefined format
• Keystone does not lose batch visibility at the LSP. It enables multi-
directional batch traceability for all internally manufactured products
ingredients through the end product shipped to the customer

Handling Unit Management

• A Handling Unit represents a pallet and the material / product placed


on it
• System equivalent of a physical pallet, identified by bar-coded label.
Movements of stock will be recorded by moving the Handling Unit

• Purpose: Put away by Handling Unit (HU)

Scenario: Put away with strategy.


When put away by HU, it tells you where to store your HU
based upon configured strategies.
Prerequisite: Administration has created transfer orders
for the delivery.

• Select Putaway by HU • Scan the HU (when you type
put ]C100 before the HU)
• Select F4 Nxt

The screen will show the destination bin where the handling unit needs
to be stored.
Go to the bin and scan the bin or enter check digit for the bin.
Press F1 Save. With F7 it is possible to override the destination bin.

Repeat this step for each HU.

• Purpose: Put away by Bin to Bin

Scenario: Put away without strategy


When put away by Bin to Bin you won’t be directed to a
bin based upon strategy, therefore you can decide
yourself where to put away although certain checks will
be performed in the background.
Pre-requisite: Administration has post goods receipted
the Inbound Delivery. This is being used for any re-
location within the warehouse as well, i.e. Returns from
production.
