Literature Review
Research has shown that TBLT is an effective approach to language learning, particularly for developing
communicative competence and promoting language use in real-life situations. Studies have also shown that
TBLT can be effective in improving reading skills, as it provides opportunities for learners to engage with
authentic texts and develop strategies for comprehension and analysis.
In the context of Saudi Arabia, several studies have explored the effectiveness of TBLT on various language
skills, including speaking, listening, and writing. However, there is limited research on the impact of TBLT on
reading skills among English foreign language students in Riyadh City.

Research
Methodology
This quantitative study utilized an experimental research design to test the effectiveness
of task-based language teaching for reading skill, which is dedicated to English foreign
language students. To do so, the research process is as follows: A detailed reading
lesson plan, which is apt for a task-based learning approach, has been prepared. Further,
pre-test and post-test, which are related to the same lesson that I supposed to teach,
have been designed. Students are supposed to do the pre-test at the beginning of the
class time, then the lesson has started. At the end of the class time, students did the
post-test.
The results of the pre-test are compared to the results of the post-test which enabled us
to have a precise evaluation of the development of students' reading competencies that
are exposed to task-based learning.

.
Results and
Analysis
The results of the study showed that the result of the post-test
outperformed the results of the pre-test on measures of reading
comprehension and vocabulary acquisition. The qualitative
data also indicated that students had positive attitudes towards
reading and felt more confident in their ability to understand
and analyze texts.
These findings suggest that TBLT can be an effective
approach to improving reading skills among English foreign
language students in Saudi Arabia, particularly when it is
designed to address the specific needs and interests of the
learners..

Conclusion

In conclusion, this study provides evidence of the effectiveness of

TBLT on the reading skill among English foreign language students
in Riyadh City, Saudi Arabia. The findings suggest that TBLT can be
a valuable approach to promoting language acquisition and
development, particularly when it is tailored to the specific needs and
interests of the learners.
Future research should explore the impact of TBLT on other
language skills and investigate the factors that contribute to its
effectiveness in different contexts and with different learner
populations.
