    What is Technical Report?

     A formal report designed to convey technical information


    in a clear and easily accessible format.
     It is divided into sections which allow different readers to
    access different levels of information.
    What is Technical Report?

     A technical report is a document written by a researcher detailing


    the results of a project and submitted to the sponsor of that project
     Technical reports describe the process, progress, or results of
    technical or scientific research. They include experimental
    details, data, and results.
     Itmay contain data, design criteria, procedures, literature reviews,
    research history, detailed tables, illustrations/images, explanation
    of approaches that were unsuccessful.
    COMPONENTS OF A TECHNICAL
    PAPER
     Title
     Abstract
     Introduction
     Theoretical background
     Methods/ Apparatus and procedure
     Results and discussion
     Conclusion
     Nomenclature (optional)
     References
     Appendices (optional)
    Writing style

     Avoid subjective comments, and use of personal pronouns; use


    passive voice instead
     Write in a direct manner, avoid words that are not useful
    such as:
    “In order to”
    “the purpose of this experiment is to”
     Your writing should reflect accuracy of measurement
    Title of the Report/Thesis/Paper
    Title
    The title is what draws reader to your work
    – Reveal the topic of the paper
    – Should include key words about the project

    Make the title interesting and attractive


    How do you title a technical report?

     Technicalreports should have strong, specific, and


    informative titles that tell the reader exactly what to
    expect.
     At the same time, titles should include clear and direct
    language without wordiness or redundancy.
     The worst titles tell the reader nothing about the
    research/experiment/ submitted document.

    This page must come first in any technical report sample. It contains the
    title of your report, the date, the details of the institution, and the
    supervisor. This page is also known as a cover page.
      Any content you place here isn’t included on your report’s word count.
    This page is a separate entity in terms of word count so keep this in
    mind.
