Introduction
• Two level inverters were replaced by a multilevel inverter which is a
power electronic device capable of providing desired alternating
voltage level at the output using multiple lower level DC voltages as
an input.
• Multilevel inverters can provide higher voltage and high power ratio
and are beneficial for medium to high voltage.

Department of Electrical Engineering

Literature review
• DC voltage is converted to AC voltage by a device which is called Inverter Koshti
(2017).
• The main disadvantages of the two level H-bridge inverter were the large
harmonics and high switching losses orfanoudakis (2010).
• The introduction of multilevel inverters enhanced the quality of sinusoidal wave
and minimized harmonics prasad (2018)
• MLI uses different levels of DC input and number of levels gives the idea about
the smoothness of output.

Types of multi level inverter
There are three types of multi level inverter
•Diode clamped multilevel inverter.
•Flying capacitors multilevel inverter.
•Cascaded H- bridge multilevel inverter.

The comparison of above three inverters and newly proposed inverter is

below.

Problem Statement
To design a multilevel inverter for pure sine wave generation using
single H-bridge.

Department of Electrical Engineering

Objective
The objectives of the proposed system are given below:
•A unique approach is proposed which reduces the overall cost and
complex nature of traditional multilevel inverter.
•By using single H-bridge, full sine wave is generated.
•At the output pure sinusoidal wave is achieved using a appropriate
filter capacitor.
