• Humans will be sorted out into groups on that day. They will be brought before Allah to
give an account of their worldly deeds no matter how big or small. The Holy Quran says,
“Each soul will be paid in full the (fruit of) its deeds and Allah knows best all they do”.
• The earth will be treated like a person who will speak out.
B) TEACHINGS

• The teaching of this surah is that everyone will be judged on the last day.

• The Holy prophet (PBUH) said, “the earth is a cultivating ground for the hereafter”. It shows that
we must follow the straight path and not commit sins as instructed by the prophets and divine

• The role of earth here reflects its importance e.g we should not degrade it through deforestation.
5.SURAH AL-NAS (114)

ALLAH IN HIMSELF
1. AYAT-UL-KURSI (2:255)

“Allah. There is no god but He, the living, the self-subsisting, eternal. No slumber can seize
Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and the earth. Who is there can intercede in
His presence except as He permits? He knows what is before or after or behind them.Nor
shall they compass any of His knowledge except as He wills. His throne extends over the
heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the
Most High, the supreme”.
A) BELIEF THEME

• It contains the theme of oneness of Allah (Tawhid) who is immortal and totally independent.
• He is unlike His creation because He does not sleep nor get tired in what He does.
• He has complete authority over everything as He looks after all the Heavens and the earth whereas no one is needed to look
after Him. Surah Al-Shura says, “ To Him belongs all that in the heavens and on earth and He is most High most Great”.
• No one can intercede on behalf of anyone without His permission and when they are granted such permission they will act
within limits as set by Allah.
• The knowledge of Allah is infinite and perfect. Humans only know what He allows them to know.
• ‘His throne’ refers to his majesty, uniqueness knowledge (Omni-science) and having total power (Omni-potence). His
creations are completely dependent on Him. The Holy prophet (PBUH) says, “Say (O prophet) Allah alone is the creator of
everything and He is the One. Dominant over all”.
B) TEACHINGS

• This verse makes Muslim realize that all power and authority lies with Allah alone. He does as He wills, so it gives them
confidence to turn only to Him for help in all matters and to ask for His forgiveness.

• It affirms the fundamental belief of Muslim to worship none but Allah and it emphasize on the perfect kingdom of Allah. So, a
believer must not bow down or surrender himself before a tyrant of any worldly power and unjust authority.

• It signifies Allah’s complete and perfect knowledge which is around us so we should not only strive to get that knowledge but
more importantly request Him for this as He alone can provide it. Therefore, we should frequently recite the following Quranic
prayer: “O my Lord! Increase my knowledge” (Ameen).

• It was said by Holy Prophet (PBUH) to be one of the best passages of Quran. Thus, Muslim recite it daily for protection and
blessings.
2. SURAH AL ANA’M (101 TO 103)

101. “To Him is due the primal origins of the heavens and earth: how can He have a son
when He has no consort? He created all things and He has full knowledge of all things.”
102. “That is Allah, your lord! There is no god but He, the creator of all things: then
worship Him: and He has power to dispose of all affairs. “
103. “No vision can He Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all
comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.”
A) BELIEF THEME

• The main theme of these verse is God’s power i.e. His Omnipotence. Allah’s rule extends over entire universe which mean
He is All powerful. He is the only one to control the Heavens and everything originates with Him.
• All is not a physical being. He is too different from human and is free from all human attributes. He is far superior to be in
need to have children or spouse. “And it behooves not the Most Affectionate that he should take a son”; therefore, He is
far beyond our understanding and the Holy Quran in this regard says, “And there is none like Him”. (can be shortened)
• Furthermore, He has knowledge of everything i.e. His Omni-Science. Although humans cannot understand Him, yet Allah
understands everything in creation.
• He is the sole creator of everything which negates any concept of other deities. Thus, human should turn to Him as He is
the only One who has the power to help humans.
• Also, Allah is far beyond human imagination and they cannot perceive Him. However, Allah sees and hears everything
they do. Therefore they should worship Allah alone and turn to Him to reward their action.
B) TEACHINGS

• These verse of Surah Al - Ana’m emphasis the importance of tawhid for Muslim. Muslim are being asked to reflect
upon His relationships as it’s totally impossible for Him to have physical relations with any of His creations or to
have family etc. because He is the creator and is therefore, unique.
• In addition, the passage also categorically negates the false belief of God having any wife or children, and thus,
Muslim, in this way, develop a clearer concept of Tawhid and understand that Shirk is the only unpardonable sin the
sight of God. (Shift up with firt point)
• Our actions, words and thought are not hidden from him. Hence, we should be always careful of our deeds. The
Quran reminds Muslim this repeatedly: “And He is with you wherever you are”.
• By recognizing His supremeness, we should worship Him alone and be careful to fast and pray etc. to fulfill all our
obligations to Him. Similarly, we should only turn to Him for help as He is the only One who can fulfill their needs.
3. SURAH AL-FUSSILAT (41:37)

37. “among His signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Adore not the sun and the moon, but adore
Allah, who created them, if it is Him you wish to serve.”
A. Belief theme
• The main theme of this surah is Unity and Oneness of Allah i.e. Tawhid
• Allah being the sole Creator and Controller of everything that exists including the sun and the moon speaks through
them that He is the Most Powerful thus He alone is worthy of worship.
• The passage also negates the idea of paganism and teaches that celestial bodies like sun and the moon are among the
signs of Allah to show mankind his Power and Greatness and make them understand that they are not to be worshipped
as they are inferior and not equal to Him. The Holy Quran says: “Behold in the creation of the Heaven and Earth
and the alternation of the Night and Day. There are indeed signs for men of understanding”
B) TEACHINGS

• The surah creates a strong link with Allah. This is because it makes Muslim understand Allah is the Creator of everything that exists so they
should not depend of anything like sun, moon, money or anyone like a famous person. Hence, they should only look up for Allah and only
worship him.
• The celestial bodies which are creation of Allah are moving according to the law of Almighty Allah and they have been created only to facilitate
mankind. Thus Muslim must understand that they being too the creation of Allah should follow Him and mould their lives according to His
instructions.
• When Muslim realize the purpose of creation of such things and recognize that they are not the objects of worship, then they become more
steadfast and only worship their creator i.e. Almighty Allah. Thus in this way they not only avoid shirk which is greatest of all sins but also
become humble and thankful to God for His countless bounties.
• Muslim see the signs of Allah everywhere. The way He runs the nature, the shift of day and night. Thus when they observe such changes in
environment, they recognize the wonders of Allah’s Greatness and get close to Him
• Ideal order and harmony in objects of nature also makes Muslims realize that Allah is the most perfect and they should only depend upon Him
to improve their lives.
4.SURAH AL-SHURA (42:4 TO 5)

4. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: and He is most high, most great.
5. The heavens are almost rent asunder from above them, and the angles celebrate the
praises of their Lord, and pray for forgiveness for beings on earth: Behold! Verily Allah is
He, the oft-forgiving, the most merciful.
A) BELIEF THEME

• The main theme of this passage is Unity and Oneness of Allah or Tawhid
• The Heavens are almost torn apart due to His greatness above them.
• It says that Allah is the Owner and Master of everything that exists. This is because He created
them and so no one else has a share in His ownership as the Holy Quran says in Ayat-ul-Kursi:
“His Throne extends over the Heavens and the Earths”
• It also mentions about the angles who are also His creation, and a part of their duties that is to
praise Allah and ask for forgiveness for people. Thus Allah is the most Merciful Who forgives His
people and shows them the right path like He forgave Adam when he disobeyed Allah in Paradise.
Similarly, He guided Abraham to righteousness when Hazrat Ibrahim was looking for the true God.
B) TEACHINGS

• In this passage God tells humankind of His power and control over all things. Thus, they should remember
that they do not have any power in comparison.
• Muslims understand that God is Merciful, even when they have committed wrong actions. Thus they realize
that they always have someone to turn to in times of need.
• As God is merciful to humankind, they in turn should be grateful and also try to be forgiving of others, even
if they have been hurt or injured. Holy Prophet (PBUH) said, “Allah does not show mercy to those who do
not show mercy to others”
• He is a loving God Who has created angels to pray for believers and it is His love that the people who have
touched the extreme limits in disbelief, polytheism, atheism, sinfulness and tyranny, have been receiving
respire after respite for years so that they mend their ways.
5. SURAH AL-IKHLAS (112:1 TO 4)

1. Say: He is Allah, the one and only; 2. Allah, the eternal, absolute; 3. He does not beget, nor is He begotten; 4. And there is none
like Him.
A. Belief theme
• The theme of this surah is Oneness of Allah (Tawhid) which is one of the pillars of Islam and articles of faith. Although there are
other surahs which explain the doctrine of Tawhid but this surah was specifically revealed to describe His Oneness. It tells that
Allah is the only One God and He has no hint of plurality.
• He is ever living and will never die i.e. He is immortal.
• He is absolute, therefore He is completely independent.
• Furthermore, He is unique in is His existence and has no physical relationship with any of His creations. He has no partners or
family. The Holy Quran says at another place “How can He (Allah) have a son when He has no consort”.
• Also this Surah tells that there is no one similar to Allah or to His qualities because He is the Creator and others are creations.
B) TEACHINGS

• Surah Ikhlas stresses upon the Oneness of Allah i.e (Tawhid). It makes people realize that they should not take
created things like sun/moon or other people like famous celebrities/saints as their lord. Thus, this passage
forbids Muslims from committing shirk i.e associating partners with Allah.
• Thus surah tells Muslims that they should depend only on Allah for help and forgiveness as He is eternal and
absolute.
• It makes them understand that Allah has no family. Thus, they avoid making mistake of believing in God having
children or partners to share His authority.

and supremeness of God.
• It is one of the surah which Muslims recite for protection.
• It is considered as one third of the Holy Quran.
ALLAH’S MESSENGERS
1. SURAH BAQARAH (2:30 TO 37)
• 30. Behold, your lord said to the angels: “I will create a vicegerent on earth”. They said: “Will you place there one will
make mischief there and shed blood? While we celebrate your praises and glorify your holy (name)?”. He said: “ I know
what you do not know”.31.And He taught Adam the names of all things; then He placed them before angels, and said:
“Tell me the names of these if you are right”. 32. They said: “Glory to you, of knowledge we have none, save what you
have taught us: In truth it is You who are perfect in knowledge and wisdom”. 33. He said: “Adam! Tell them their
names”. When he had told them, Allah said: “Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of heaven and earth, and I know
what you reveal and what you conceal?” 34. And behold, We said to the angels: “Bow down to Adam”. And they bowed
down. Not so Iblis: he refused and was haughty: he was of those who reject faith.35. We said: ‘Adam! You and your wife
dwell in the Garden; and eat of the bountiful things in it as You wish. But do not approach this tree, or you will run into
harm and transgression’. 36. then Satan made them slip from there. And got them out of of what they had been in. We
said: ‘Go down with enmity between yourselves. On earth will be your dwelling place and your means of livelihood, for
a time’. 37. Then Adam learnt from his lord turned towards him. For He is often returning, most merciful’.
A) BELIEF THEME

• The theme of this passage is that Allah is the sole creator of everything., Who created Hazrat
Adam (man) and angels .
• It also mentions that man has a strong relationship with His prophets like He gifted Adam with
knowledge and therefore due to this, gave him superiority over angels.
• Allah also gave Adam the status of vicegerent on earth as chose him as prophet. Therefore,
Allah gives knowledge to those who He wants and prophethood to who He pleases.
• When Satan mislead Hz. Adam, God did not leave him bust instead forgave him and still made
him the vicegerent on earth. Thus, this also means that God always looks after His prophets.
B) TEACHINGS

• The importance of this passage is that Adam was the first prophet of God, who was made
his representative on earth.
• This gives Muslims a sense of their connection to God as Adam is called the father of
humankind and everyone is descended from him.
• God showed Adam’s importance by making the angels bow to him and forgiving him
when he disobeyed. This should make humankind understand their status, they should
seek forgiveness from God and worship Him.
• It also shows God’s care and direct relationship with every individual.
2. SURAH AL-ANAM (6:75 TO 79)

75. So also did We show Abraham the power and the laws of the Heavens and the earth, so
that he might have certainty. 76. When the night covered him over, he saw a star.: He said:
‘This is my lord’. But when it set, he said: ‘I do not love things that set’. 77. When he saw
the moon rising in splendor, he said: ‘This is my lord’. But when the Moon set, he said:
‘unless my lord guides me, I will surely be among those who go astray’. 78. When he saw
the sun rising in splendor, he said: ‘This is my lord; this is the greatest’. But when the sun
set, he said: ’O my people! Iam indeed free from your giving partners to Allah’. 79. ‘For
me, I have set my face firmly and truly towards Him who created the heavens and the earth,
and never shall I give partners to Allah’.
A) BELIEF THEME

• This passage talks about God’s relationship with His messengers. i.e prophet Ibrahim in these
verses. The story of Hz. Ibrahim in search of God.
• The signs of the sun and the moon and the star were shown to Abraham to clear his confusion
about his ancestors belief in idols. In search of God, Hz. Ibrahim never committed shirk as Allah
says: ”Say, “Verily my God has guided me to a way that is straight, a religion of right path by
Abraham, the true in faith, and he (certainly) joined no gods with Allah”.
• Eventually Hz. Ibrahim (AS) recognized the oneness and supremacy of Allah which shows that
prophets are always guided by Allah towards the right path and He help them in need. The, he
alone is worthy of worship.
B) TEACHINGS

• These teachings tell man to have a believe in God alone and not ascribe partners to Him (avoid
shirk). This also makes them realize that they need to look to One God for answers.
• This passage strengthens our belief in prophets as it shows that God communicated with His
prophets Abraham through His creation.
• Muslims also realise that these created things are not permanent. They are just the signs of Allah to
show that He is One, the creator of all. So we should worship the creator ad not the creations as these
celestial bodies have been created for the benefit of mankind e.g sun provides light and warmth.
• Hz. Ibrahim asked Allah for guidance and in return Allah supported him. Thus, we should ask Allah
for assistance or we can go astray.
3. SURAH AL-MAIDAH (5:110)

Will Allah say; ‘Jesus, son of Mary! Recount my favor to you and to your mother. Behold! I
strengthened you with the Holy spirit, so that you spoke to the people in childhood and
maturity. Behold! I taught you the book and wisdom, the law and the Gospel. And behold!
You make out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by my leave, and you breath into it
and it becomes a bird by my leave, and you heal those born blind, and the lepers, by my
leave. And behold! You bring forth the dead by my leave. And behold! I restrained the
children of Israel from you when you showed them the clear signs, and the unbelievers
among the said; ‘This is nothing but evident magic’
A) BELIEF THEME

The passage talks about God’s relationship with His messengers, in this case prophet Isa (Jesus).
Allah gave knowledge to His prophets to help them. Like Jesus (A.S) got the holy spirit, the book, wisdom and law
and Gospel.
He also gave miracles to His prophets as a sign of prophethood and in order to show His support for them. The
miracles of Jesus included healing the blind, treating the lepers and resurrecting the dead.
The repetitive use of the phrase ‘by My leave’ shows that humans can do great things but with the permission of
God as He has the power and authority over all that exists.
Allah saved Jesus from his enemies, as the Holy Quran says: “Behold! Allah said, “O Jesus! I will take you and
raise you to Myself and clear you (of the falsehood) of those who blaspheme”. This proves that Allah protects His
chosen ones from harm.
B) TEACHINGS

This passage makes us understands Allah is a loving God who has sent prophets to guide
mankind. Thus, this strengthen our belief in oneness of Allah and prophets.
This passage confirms that Prophet Jesus was a sign and proof of Allah’s power over all
things. Similarly, Humans are capable of great things but its God who gives the permission
for these feats. E.g Moon landings and space travel.
These signs show that is God All-powerful. He is the controller of everything and allows
things to happen. Thus, Muslims should remember Him more often by praying, fasting,
supplicating or doing good deeds etc to ensure that they are counted as believers.
4. SURAH AL-DUHA (93)

1. By the glorious morning light. 2. And by the night when it is still. 3. Your lord has not
forsaken you, nor is displeased. 4. And truly the hereafter will be better for you than the
present. 5. And soon your lord will give you so that you will be pleased. 6. Did He not find
you an orphan and give you shelter? 7. And He found you wandering, and He gave
guidance. 8. And He found you in need, and made you independent. 9. Therefore, do not
treat the orphan with harshness. 10. Nor drive the beggar away. 11. But tell about the
bounty of your lord.
A) BELIEF THEME

The main theme of this surah is God’s relationship with prophets i.e in this case the Holy prophet Muhammad
(pbuh).
When there was a gap in revelations, the Quraish mocked the Holy prophet (pbuh) by saying that his Lord had
forsaken him. This distressed the Holy prophet (pbuh). Thus, this passage was revealed to console the Holy
prophet (pbuh) which shows that Allah always helps in problems.
This also means that Allah helps those in need. Thus, Muslims should turn to Him when distressed.
Allah rejects the claims of his enemies and assure him of His help referring to His blessings upon him in the
past e.g financial security (Hz. Khadija), shelter (Hz. Abu Talib) and guidance through revelation towards the
right path. This means that Allah’s support is with the prophets even when they do not realize its presence.
Allah instructs the Holy prophet (pbuh) and indirectly all Muslims of being helpful and kind to the less
fortunate i.e orphans and beggars. Surah Al-Rehman says, “Then which of blessings of your lord will you both
deny?”
B) TEACHINGS

Surah Al-Duha tells us that God blessed the Holy prophet (pbuh) and helped him in the difficult
moments of his life. This means that Allah always supports His prophets which also strengthens our
belief in them.
This passage instructs Muslims not to worry when others tease them in time of difficulty.
God gave blessings to the prophet (pbuh) despite people saying that he had been forgotten by God.
Thus, Muslims should not look at their own lives to see their blessings and not think they have been
giving nothing.
They should also not constantly want more than what they have and instead should remain grateful to
God through prayers, giving charity and helping those less fortunate than themselves.
5. SURAH AL-KAUTHAR (108)

1. To you have We granted abundance. 2. So pray to your lord and sacrifice. 3. For he who hates you, he will be cut
off.
A) Belief theme
This passage talks about God’s mercy and His relationship with the Holy prophet Muhammad (pbuh). This was
revealed to console the holy prophet (pbuh) who was in shock after the death of his sons and was being mocked by
the Quraish who called him abtar. The theme is that Allah always supports His prophets.
The abundance refers to the bounties granted to the Holy prophet (pbuh) by Allah in this life and the hereafter. God
has therefore, granted the Holy prophet (pbuh) success, and because of this, he (and all muslims) should continue to
show loyalty to God through prayer and sacrifice even in times of difficulty as the Holy Quran says, “Say: Verily,
my Salah, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, the lord of all that exists. He has no partner. And of
this I have been commanded, and Iam the first of the Muslims”.
He (pbuh) was assured that his enemies would be punished which shows that God remains near to His prophets.
B) TEACHINGS

The teachings give an insight into how the relationship between God and the prophet has lessons for
Muslims.
Muslims today are the future generations of the followers of the prophet and so this surah gives hope
to the people in times of need.
Future hope is also given with the promise of Kawthar in paradise
God always intervenes in times of difficulty so Muslims should always remember to look to Him for
help and support and not feel disheartened in times of difficulty e.g during illness and oppression.
Muslims should remain steadfast despite the difficulties or mockeries that they face.
