Based on their morphology

Based on their morphology, weeds can be grouped


into grass weeds, sadge weeds, and broadleaf
weeds.
GRASS
WEEDS
Grass weeds belong to the Poacea Family,
the general characteristics of grass weeds it
has slightly flattened round stem and is
generally hollow. Solitary leaves at the nodes
(segment), arranged in two rows, generally
having parallel veins.
SADGE
WEEDS Sadges weeds belong to the Cyperaceae
Family. Stems are generally triangular in
shape, sometimes round and usually not
hollow. Leaves arranged in three rows, do
not have leaf tongues (ligula). Flowers
stalks are bookles. Flowers are usually
protected by a protective leaf
BROADLEAF

WEEDS
Broadleaf weeds are generally included in
the Pteridophyte Family. Broadleaf weeds
have leaf veins in the form of nets.

Annual weeds have a life cycle of one year. Annual weeds has
the ability to grow fast and is able to produce seeds in a short
time. Weeds that have annuals life cycle including Bayam duri
(Amaranthus sp.) and Rumput jampang (Digitaria sp.)
BIANNUAL WEEDS

Biannual weeds have a life cycle is more than one year but not
more than two years. At the first year this weeds produces a
rosette, at the second years this weeds produces flowers dan
seeds, at the end this weeds finally dies. Weeds that have
biannuals life cycle including Aretium sp. and Circium vulgare.

WEEDS

Parennial weeds can live more than two years or may be


almost unlimited. Weeds that have parennials life cycle
including Cyperus rotundus and Imperata cylindrica.
Based on their habitat

Based on their habitat, weeds can be grouped into


land weeds, water weeds, weeds that ride on other
plants.
Land Weeds

Land weeds are weeds who grows on land.


Weeds whose habitat is on land including
Imperata cylindrica and Chromolaena
odorata.
Water Weeds

Water weeds are weeds who grows on


water. Water weeds can be grouped into
two types, first is water weeds that grow in
the salt water, second is water weeds that
grow in the fresh water. Salt water weeds
live in condition like sea water, such as in
mangrove forest.
WEEDS THAT RIDE
ON OTHER PLANTS
Weeds that ride on other plants are weeds that
live ride on cultivated plants. Weeds that ride on
other plants including epiphytes, hemi-parasite,
and hyper-parasite.
