 Summary
The writer starts the story with an experience he had in his childhood when he drew a snake
emperor and he was very proud of that drawing. The problem was that all of the grownups only
saw a hat on the drawing and not the emperor. He was disappointed by their reaction so he drew
another drawing with and elephant in it and after that one many advised him to quit drawing.
He then decided to become a pilot and travel everywhere. He met a lot of people and whenever
he showed somebody the drawing they would still see a hat. Everything started changing when
his plane crashed in the middle of nowhere and he had to fix it for himself. After the first night,
he actually slept a boy with golden hair woke him up. He did not seem lost or frightened and
only wanted the pilot to draw him a sheep in the sand. The pilot was confused because he did not
know how to draw that so he drew the only thing he knew how to draw. He was very surprised
when the boy told him he does not want an elephant inside a snake emperor because the elephant
was big and the emperor was dangerous. The boy told him that in his world everything is small
and then the pilot accepted to draw him a sheep.
 Summary
The boy rejected every drawing because to him is did not look like a sheep and the pilot was
losing his patient because he was in a hurry to fix his plane. Then he drew a box and told the boy
that the sheep was in it. The boy loved it and then the pilot met the little prince. He found out
that he was from another planet, asteroid B 612, that was just a bit bigger than him. In his
conversation with the prince, he found out interesting stories about his planet, journey and
arrival to Earth. The third day he found out something about baobabs that contaminated his
planet. Because of the danger, his planet was the prince wanted a sheep that will eat the baobabs.
The fourth day the pilot found out that he loves sunsets and that he used to observe them at his
planer and on the fifth day he admitted that there was a flower he was hoping for the sheep not
to eat so the pilot promised he’ll draw the sheep a muzzle. Even though there were many flowers
on his planet the prince love the rose more than any other flower. It was the reason why he ran
away because he did not know what to do about it. Now that he was far away from his rose he
realized what it meant to him.
 Summary
When he was leaving his planet he used the birds and cleaned up after himself because he was convinced
that he’ll never have to go back there. The little prince met a king on an asteroid. He lived there alone and
nothing existed but him. On a next asteroid he met a woman that was a stuck up who declared him her
fan. He did not like her so he kept on travelling. On the fifth planet the day lasted for a minute but there
was no place for him so he left that planet too. The sixth planet was bigger and there he met a geographer
who he asked for a favor. He wanted to get the coordinates of his rose but the geographer said no because
he thought that the rose is something that will go away with time. That made the little prince sad so he
went away from that planet and came to earth. The first place he went to was the desert in Africa and the
first creature he met was a snake. She confessed that she was powerful and that she could take him
anywhere he wants with a single touch. He traveled the whole desert but did not see any people there and
that is the reasona why hehad a bad impression about Earth. He also walked along a garden filled with
roses and that made him sad because it brought up memories and then he met a fox with which he played
but she explained to him that in order to play with her he should tame her. While he was hanging with her
he realized what friendship was and once again he realized why his rose was so important to him. He went
to the rose garden again and said goodbye to them telling them that his rose is special because she was his
best friend.
 Summary
When they were saying their goodbyes the fox told him that a man can only see good
with his heart and that a man is forever responsible for what he has tamed.  The eight
day in the desert the pilot ran out of water so they went looking for a well. The pilot
carried the prince in his hands and he knew why the prince was special. He was special
because of his loyalty to one flower. In the end they found a well and drank some water
together. The pilot saw that the prince wants to go back to his planet and he went on
fixing the engine of his plane. When the pilot checked up on the prince he saw that he
was talking to the snake that was actually poisonous. She told him that he should go
back to the place where he fell on Earth. The prince knew that the pilot fixed the plane
and he was happy for going back home. The problem is that the snake flashed and
prince fell down like sand. As a memory, many stars remained in the sky to remind us of
his smile whenever we look up.

The story begins and ends in the

 TYPES OF CHARACTERS
● The protagonist of the short novel is the Little Prince.
He is a simple, yet mystical, creature from asteroid B-

● The problem, or antagonist, of the Little Prince is his

thirst for answers. He visits many planets and meets
many people, whom he questions about life. In
particular, he wants to understand the existence and
pastimes of adults on Earth.
PLOT
EXPOSITION & INCITING MOMENT
The narrator, which is a pilot ,thinks that grown-ups are not people
with true understanding. They don't understand his drawings when
he was a child and only wants to talk about practical stuffs like
politics and golf. That is why in his whole life he had a hard time
connecting with the grown-ups.

CONFLICT & COMPLICATIONS

Then, the narrator has a plane accident in the Sahara, where he meets
the little prince, and he’s thrilled that someone finally gets him.While
the narrator attempts to fix his plane, the prince describes his travels
and his adventures. He also tells the narrator about his love for a
flower and how she caused him pain, which was why he left his planet
in the first place.
 CLIMAX
The narrator learns about the prince’s encounter with a fox: The wise fox
taught the prince about trust, love, and friendship. As a result, the prince
realizes that his love for his flower is true. The prince and the narrator go
on a quest for water and end up finding a well; also, the narrator succeeds
in fixing his engine. In order to return to his planet, the prince is bitten by
a snake and disappears from the Earth.

DENOUEMENT
Six years after the prince disappears, the narrator keeps looking for
him in the stars. He still wonders what is going on with his friend. He
wants readers to keep these questions alive and keep thinking of the
prince, too.
 POINT OF VIEW
The little prince’s life is told in the third
person, and his involvement with the narrator
is told in the first person by the narrator.

THEME
The story follows a young prince who visits
various planets in space, including Earth, and
addresses themes of loneliness, friendship, love,
and loss. Despite its style as a children's book, The
Little Prince makes observations about life, adults
and human nature.

• Allegory (literal and figurative, inner meaning:
through the demonstration of the Prince’s travels
the author shows the process of searching for life

SYMBOLISM
The desert symbol represents hostile place without means for life, just as the narrator’s
state of mind at that time. The Little Prince’s optimism was like finding the well in the
desert for the pilot – it guaranteed survival.

• The water symbol in The Little Prince describes the spiritual food necessary for one’s life.
Like water nourishes a thirsty traveler’s body, spiritual fulfillment feeds our souls. The
human spirit is what feels thirst the most, not our body. Moreover, people should not take
things like a gulp of cool water for granted, but appreciate life in its details.

• Baobab trees in The Little Prince is another bright symbol in the story. Baobab seeds sprout
and soon become fatal to the planet if they are not uprooted in time. The same happens with
any harmful habit that leads to inevitable outcome if not given up before it’s too late.

• Planet symbolism lies in reminding us we are the only ones responsible for the well-being
of our own little planets (aka lives). Each of us has a choice: whether to follow the Little
Prince’s example and make the planet protected from dangerous ‘roots’, spread care,
kindness, and love, or turn our life into a cramped space centered around egotistical desires,
obsessive tasks, routine, spending time meaninglessly, like asteroid inhabitants.
 SYMBOLISM
• The narrator told the story of his parents discouraging him after he had drawn the
picture of a snake eating elephant. Adults saw merely a hat while the child’s
imagination pictured something much greater. People perceive things differently
but if you have a dream, protect it from the discouragement by all means.

• The symbolism of fox manifests itself through a famous saying about

responsibility and essence of things. The Fox is like a life teacher who once
appears and impacts on the way one sees the world. In fact, the Fox did not say
anything sophisticated. On the contrary, his wisdom lies in the simplicity: the only
thing needed is to stop rushing and listen to what the heart speaks.

• The Prince symbol meaning is revealed in two dimensions: as a pure-hearted

child with optimistic ideas who lives in his own positive bright world, and as an
open-minded person who strives to lead meaningful life devoting himself to
people around.
