• grows feathers very rapidly
• broody and make good mothers
• color is a medium to light red

• originated in the New England states

Wyandote
• comes from the regions around upstate
New York and Ontario, Canada
• good, medium-weight fowl for small

disposition, and many attractive color
patterns (varieties)

Leghorn
• originate from a region in Northern
Italy near the port for its namesake,
Leghorn
• small, spritely, noisy bird with great
style
• good foragers and can often glean
much of their diet from ranging over

• red wattle, white earlobes, and either a
single or rose comb

Minorca
• developed in the Mediterranean area
• long, angular birds that appear larger
than they are
• large combs and wattles which, in cold
weather, are prone to frostbite
• impressive birds and can give a fair

• poor meat fowl because of their narrow
angular bodies and slow growth.

Ancona
• originated near the city of Ancona, Italy
• distinct plumage with black coloring
and white tipped feathers
• white grows with each molting
• ear lobes are white, which has no

Australorp
• Australorp was developed in Australia
from the Black Orpington stock
• have intense beetle-green sheen on the

one hen having laid 364 eggs in 365
days

• alert, attractive and good foragers

Aseel
• Aseel originates from India and has
been known for around 2,000 years
• well-muscled body, yellow curved
