    Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bangalore was commissioned in 1760 by Hyder Ali and completed by his son Tipu Sultan to introduce and propagate numerous ornamental and economically valuable plants. It served as both a park and social/recreational space. The garden was designed with various landscape elements like glass houses, Lalbagh Lake used for irrigation, rose gardens, band stands, and bonsai and Japanese gardens. These elements provide passive cooling and define circulation while adding aesthetic and economic value. However, many of the trees are now quite old and pose a falling branch hazard while also attracting bugs and insects.
