In this new world, the teacher plays a very different role.
Today’s students are the first generation to have grown up with
the internet, and the first to be educated by it.
Today we can use the flexibility of data networks and software
to create dynamic learning environments, without the huge cost
and rigidity of traditional infrastructure.
Technology is transforming how we live, work, play and think.
And it’s happening more quickly, and on a larger scale, than at
any point in human history.
I think that paper student books will gradually drop out of
education very soon. Even today, a step has been taken in this
direction, many publishers have made an electronic version of
their textbooks. In this way, using electronic resources for
education will reduce tree felling, which in turn will have a
positive effect on environmental protection.
Education needs to equip today’s young people with
the skills to thrive in tomorrow’s world. Even if we
don’t know what it looks like yet.
In the future, education will be structured around
projects, not processes. This is the so-called "active"
or "problem-based" training. It seeks to engage
students' natural curiosity, rather than just providing
them with information. Teachers will increasingly
say, "There's a problem to solve," instead of
"There's something to remember."
It is likely that the training will not be divided into
subjects, and the topics will be taught in a holistic
way, as in the real world. This model of education is
already entering the world, is strongly represented
in Finland and more and more countries are
recognizing its advantages.
More creative and practical education
Skills such as critical thinking and problem solving will be
highly valued in education. Taking tests will be replaced by
creative projects. Digital literacy and technical skills will be
important. Learning will take place through videos and
interactive methods, self-preparation will be important, and
schools and universities will become places to discuss what has
been learned.
Pupils and students will be appreciated mostly for their
creativity and intuition, which only the human mind can offer.
The ability to innovate, the ability to communicate and
collaborate with global teams will be highly valued. Students
will learn what they want, when they want and for as long as
they want. This will give more physical and emotional freedom.
Homework will be like a home office - you allocate your time, it
is important to complete the tasks assigned to you.
The physical boundaries of education will soon be removed, and
every adult and child will have access to the same resources and
quality of teaching as their peers around the world.
Personalized training and higher requirements
In today’s classrooms and lecture theatres, students are still expected to sit in
rows, listening to the teacher. This “classroom” is no longer fit for purpose.
Teachers can record structured lesson content and send it to students through
the learning platform, so everyone can learn at their own pace. It will not be
necessary to teach students in real time.
Learners will have more and more freedom to learn exactly what. As a result,
profiling will face more difficult tasks and questions to reach a certain level.
Those who have difficulty with a subject will be given the opportunity to
practice more. The individual curriculum allows comfortable and more in-
depth training in the desired areas.
New items and timely update
It is quite probable that some of the subjects we are now learning to drop out
and be imposed in their place: Electronic business, Computer-human
interaction, Social media. One of the biggest problems of education so far has
been the difficult and slow updating of the material taught. With the advent of
technology and artificial intelligence, it will be done in a timely manner.
All available data on the topic will be collected in real time and will be
provided to students in a convenient way for them - articles, lectures, videos,
interactive activities. Artificial intelligence will present information In a way
that resonates with each individual. Within just a few years, developments in
technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, nanotechnology and 3D
printing will transform most occupations.
Lifelong learning
Given the speed with which information is shared and knowledge
becomes obsolete, we are moving away from the concept of
completing education after leaving school or university. In order to do
well in your job, you will probably have to constantly acquire new
knowledge.
