rationale
One of the hottest trends today is LGBTQ+ Students
Experiences with Dress Code Policies. According to
Lee,(2017) Many secondary schools and even
universities impose rigidly gendered uniform and hair-
length restrictions on students according to the sex they
were assigned at birth, ostensibly for school pride or
discipline. This type of public humiliation is all too
common for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
(LGBT) students there.
rationale
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and
questioning (LGBTQ+) children regularly suffer hostile school
climates, including bullying and harassment based on sexual
orientation and gender identity at school, according to Russell
(2021). For instance, Kosciw et al. (2012) found in the GLSEN's
National School Climate Survey that nearly all LGBT children
encountered unpleasant comments at school, with more than
75% hearing them frequently or frequently. The researchers also
found that more than 80% of LGBT students reported verbal
abuse, more than 40% reported physical harassment, and more
than 20% reported physical assault because of their gender
identification.
rationale
In general, LGBTQ+ students who experienced bullying at school
found it difficult since their freedom of movement was restricted at home,
and when they were out, they only expressed their sentiments as
LGBTQ+ people. However, when they were out, their peers seemed to
welcome them.
Students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT)
frequently experience harassment and discrimination at school.
Unfortunately, relatively few school administrators are aware of the legal
obligations they have to LGBT children. They occasionally are aware that
they are breaching the law, but they assume that no one will notice. You
should educate yourself on your rights and your options if your school
doesn't treat you fairly because of this.
