The document discusses how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. It explains that COVID-19 spreads through respiratory droplets when infected people breathe, talk, cough or sneeze. Physical distancing, wearing masks, hand hygiene, vaccination and avoiding crowded indoor spaces can help prevent transmission. The conclusion notes that while most coronaviruses circulate in animals, COVID-19 jumped from animals to humans and has spread globally, causing a sometimes deadly respiratory illness.

HOW TO PREVENT
YOURSELF FROM THE
CORONA VIRUS By:- Lokesh Jhawar Roll no. – 2021/2576 Section-E What is Corona Virus? Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age. How does the coronavirus spread? As of now, researchers know that the coronavirus is spread through droplets and virus particles released into the air when an infected person breathes, talks, laughs, sings, coughs or sneezes. Larger droplets may fall to the ground in a few seconds, but tiny infectious particles can linger in the air and accumulate in indoor places, especially where many people are gathered and there is poor ventilation. This is why mask-wearing, hand hygiene and physical distancing are essential to preventing COVID-19. Ways To Prevent yourself • Maintain a safe distance from others (at least 1 metre), even if they don’t appear to be sick. • Wear a mask in public, especially indoors or when physical distancing is not possible. • Choose open, well-ventilated spaces over closed ones. Open a window if indoors. • Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub. • Get vaccinated when it’s your turn. Follow local guidance about vaccination. • Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze. • Stay home if you feel unwell. Conclusio n • There are hundreds of coronaviruses, most of which circulate in animals. Only seven of these viruses infect humans and four of them cause symptoms of the common cold. But, three times in the last 20 years, a coronavirus has jumped from animals to humans to cause severe disease. • COVID-19, a new and sometimes deadly respiratory illness that is believed to have originated in a live animal market in China, has spread rapidly throughout that country and the world.
