Priorities among the modes, based on the mode

number.
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
VOLTAGE AND REACTIVE POWER CONTROL:

Constant Power Factor Mode

In this mode of exporting power to the mains (utility); the DSE load share controller varies the amount of reactive
power produced with regards to maintaining the required power factor.
This mode allows the generator to maintain a constant export power factor if so required.
The required power factor is set in SCADA/Generator/Load Levels section, through the Front Panel Running Editor, PLC
Functions, or Modbus messages.
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
VOLTAGE AND REACTIVE POWER CONTROL:

Voltage-Reactive Power Mode

In this mode of exporting power to the mains (utility); the DSE load share controller varies the amount of reactive
power produced with regards to the Control Curve depending on the measured voltage.
This mode allows the generator(s) to support the mains (utility) voltage stability by monitoring the voltage and
changing the amount of reactive power produced.
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
VOLTAGE AND REACTIVE POWER CONTROL:

Power-Power Factor Mode

In this mode of exporting power to the mains (utility); the DSE load share controller varies the amount of reactive
power produced with regards to maintaining the required power factor. This power factor is derived from the
averaged power using the Control Curve.
This mode allows the generator to support the mains (utility) stability by varying the power factor depending on the
export power.
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
VOLTAGE AND REACTIVE POWER CONTROL:

Constant Reactive Power Mode

This is the default mode of exporting power to the mains (utility); where the DSE load share controller holds the
amount of reactive power produced at a constant level. The amount of reactive power produced by the generator is
irrespective of the load level or any other parameter.
The amount of reactive power produced is defined as Maximum kvar Level and is set in SCADA/Generator/Load Levels
section, through the Front Panel Running Editor, in PLC Functions, or via Modbus messages.

POWER CONTROL:

Constant Power Mode

This is the default mode of exporting power to the mains (utility); where the DSE load share controller holds the
amount of power produced at a constant level. The amount of power produced by the generator is irrespective of the
load level or any other parameter.
The amount of power produced is defined as Maximum kW Level and is set in SCADA/Generator/Load Levels section,
through the Front Panel Running Editor, in PLC Functions, or via Modbus messages
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
POWER CONTROL:

Frequency-Power Mode
In this mode of exporting power to the mains (utility); the DSE load share controller varies the amount of power
produced with regards to the Control Curve depending on the measured frequency.
This mode allows the generator to support the mains (utility) frequency stability by monitoring the frequency and
changing the amount of power produced.
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
FREQUENCY-POWER MODE:

The configuration is pre-loaded with default curves that are available to select or edit.

Curves are already available in the software for the requirements in Great Britain.

FREQUENCY-POWER MODE:

Additional curves are pre-loaded in the software for the requirements in the United States.

POWER CONTROL:

Voltage-Power Mode
In this mode of exporting power to the mains (utility); the DSE load share controller varies the amount of power
produced with regards to the Control Curve depending on the measured voltage.
This mode allows the generator to support the mains (utility) voltage stability by monitoring the voltage and changing
the amount of power produced.

SEPARATE RAMP RATES

The existing “Ramp Speed” is changed to “Ramp Up Speed” and an additional setting “Ramp Down speed” is added so
that the rate can be different when ramping the load up or down.

ALARM PAGE JUMP CONTROL

If the display is on one of the home pages and an alarm is

tripped, either warning, electrical trip or shutdown, then the
display jumps to the alarms page as it does at present.
However, if the display is on an instrumentation or any other
page it remains showing the instrument and does not jump to
the alarm page when an alarm is tripped.
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
AUTO-RUN INHIBIT

A new digital input is added to the 8610

labelled ‘Auto Run Inhibit’ that prevents the
set from running in automatic.
This input differs from the existing ‘Auto Start
Inhibit’ in that it will stop an already running
set whereas the existing one will not.
A similar input is added to the 8660 that
prevents it from running 8610 that are in
automatic mode and stops any sets that are
already running.
DSE86xx MKII – V4.1
PLC GENCOMM REGISTERS AS DATA SOURCES

This allows the PLC to use any Gencomm register as a data source for use either by the instrumentation test,
mathematical actions, copy action.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
MSC REDUNDANCY

A second fully functioning MSC link on the

second CAN port, to warn the user if there is a
single point of failure on either link but
continue to operate and only action electrical
trip or shutdown alarms if both links fail.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
MSC REDUNDANCY

MSC 1

MSC 2
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
CAN MESSAGE FAILURE RATE

Four optional settings may be used to override the default message timeout before the CAN data fail alarm is
triggered.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
COMMS LINK QUALITY DISPLAY

For each communications link a new instrumentation screen is added to allow the user to check the ‘quality’ of the
link.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
COOLING IN IDLE

Timer to provide adjustable Idle Speed time during the cooling run.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
SCHEDULER UPDATE

The updated scheduler provides 2 banks of 8 events which have a common bank repeat period, and individual
selectable load / run inhibit modes.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
CRANK DISCONNECT DELAY

This allows the set to crank longer even though the crank disconnect on oil pressure threshold has been achieved.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
BATTERY CHARGER SUPPORT IN DSENET

Support up to 4 DSENET chargers on the DSENET expansion port.

DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
BATTERY CHARGER SUPPORT IN DSENET
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
PLC ADJUSTABLE RAMPING

The PLC is now able to vary the ramp rates of the generator/bus.
This can be controlled by different factors (temperature, load level…)
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
SNMP

Two SNMP manager connections are available over the Ethernet communications, with support for:
• SNMP Get
• SNMP Set
• TRAP Events
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
MANUAL BREAKER CONTROL

This requirement is to the give the user the option of either full manual or semi automatic (current scheme)
control of the breakers.

CONFIGURABLE CAN TX/RX

30 user configurable receive instruments available in Gencomm and may be configured to be displayed on the
module screen.
10 user configurable transmit messages that can be read over CANbus.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
WATER IN FUEL DIGITAL INPUT

An additional digital input is added, this will be

available to all engines. When enabled the
water in fuel signal from the engine will be
ignored and the alarm will be triggered from
this alarm instead.
The ECU alarm Water in fuel will be available
for all engines and is configurable if either an
electronic engine is selected or a digital input
is configured for conventional engines.
DSE8610 MKII – V4.1
FUEL TANK BUND DIGITAL INPUT (RESERVOIR DE RETENTION)

This alarm is to protect against fuel leakage

into the fuel tank bund. A digital input is
required to be configured as Fuel Tank Bund
Level High, and would be wired through a level
switch on the tank bund.
