 Mount Everest is the tallest


mountain in the world.
 It reaches up to 8848 m.
 The first ever recorded people
to climb Everest were Edmund
Hillary from New Zeeland and
Tenzing Norgay from Nepal.
 Hillary and Norgay reached the
peak on 29th of May 1953.
Where is Mount
Everest?

MOUNT EVEREST IS FOUND IN THE


HIMALAYAS IN ASIA.
EVEREST IS FOUND IN BETWEEN
NEPAL AND TIBET , AN AUTONOMOUS
REGION IN CHINA.
THE HIMALAYAS INCLUDE NEARLY
100 OF THE WORLD’S TALLEST PEAKS.
IT CONTAINS THE WORLD’S LARGEST
LAND PEAKS.
How was the Mount Everest formed ?

 Mt Everest formed 60 million years


ago.
 Mt Everest formed from the Indian
plate sliding down underneath the
Eurasian plate. The front of the
Indian plate is now the Himalayas.
 These plates are still moving around
2.5 inches every year which forces
the height of the mountains to
increase.
How do you get to the top?

 It’s easy-you follow the map!


 Although 17 different routes have been pioneered to
summit of Everest , almost everyone climbs it via one
or two routes.
 Examples: North Face and the one in our image is
South West Face Central Couloir.
 The start location is Kathmandu , Nepal.

What animals live on Mount Everest?

1. Himalayan tahr
2. Musk deer
3. Snow leopard
4. Red Panda
5. Wild Yak
 These animals can only live in the lower parts
of the Everest Region up to the altitude of 5750
meters.
 The animals that can survive in the harsh winter
of the Everest Region must have thick fur.

treasure of Nepal.Most of the people know Nepal as a country of
Mount Everest.

 In Nepal Mt Everest is called Sagawartha
which means land of eternal snows and in Tibet
it is called Chomolungmda.
 Mt Everest was named after Sir George Everest
. Everest worked as a British surveyor .
 It normally takes around 12 hours to climb the
final mile from the highest Base Camp to the
summit.
 The temperature at the summit never rises
above freezing.
 The summit averages -36 degrees in winter .
 The coldest EVER recorded temperature in the
UK is –27.2 degrees.
