professional development possibilities, and are committed to always improving their work.

● School leaders are adamant about criticizing ineffective teaching techniques while
simultaneously encouraging instructors' personal development.

● A collaborative culture is similar to a family.

● According to research, collaborative school culture may positively impact school
achievement (DuFour & Marzano, 2009; Jessie, 2007; McTighe; Styron & Nyman, 2008;
Wilhelm, 2010).
● By deepening the importance of collaborative school culture (CSC) at schools, the
principals need to focus on the continuous improvement of schools equipped by shaping
values, beliefs and attitudes to promote a nurturing learning environment (Stolp, 1994).

SCHOOL CULTURE
A school with an effective learning culture…
● Maintains the image of a “professional community,” similar to the fields of law
or medicine. (Newman & Wehlage, 1995).
● Has a clear mission. (Deal & Peterson,1990).
● Encourages teachers to work collaboratively with each other and with the
administration to teach students so they learn more (Fullan, 1993).
● Is a place where both teachers and students
learn (Rosenholtz, 1989).

develop such skills.

● Gathering relevant data and making that data accessible to teachers.
● Convening groups of teachers and organizing meetings in a way that ensures
every voice is heard.
● Ensuring that meetings result in clear, specific, written goals and action plans for
achieving them.
● Making certain that goals and action plans are specific and realistic enough to be
effective.
● Measuring progress toward goals throughout
the year.

• Land of nice
• Conversations are limited
• It is important that all teachers are happy and satisfied with
their work
• Don’t drill down very deep so as not
to expose a teacher’s weakness
• Good is the enemy of great
