THE GREAT SEAL OF THE US (Большая печать США)
It is kept in a mahogany cabinet (шкаф красного
дерева) and displayed in the Exhibit Hall of the Department of State in Washington, D.C.
On July 4, 1776, Benjamin Franklin, John
Adams, and Thomas Jefferson were given the task of creating a seal for the 13 United States of America.
The symbols on the seal reflect the beliefs and
values that the Founding Fathers wanted to pass on to their descendants. SYMBOLS ON OBVERSE OF THE GREAT SEAL SYMBOLS ON REVERSE OF THE GREAT SEAL THE WASHINGTON MONUMENT The monument is the world’s tallest obelisk and the tallest stone structure, made from marble, granite, and gneiss. The tower is rectangular at its base and topped with a pyramid.
Was chosen a plan by Robert Mills for a 600-foot- (183-
metre-) tall obelisk
Although the design looks fairly simple, the structure would
prove to be a difficult project for architect Robert Mills and the Washington National Monument Society. Due to ideological conflicts, lapses in funding, and disruptions during the Civil War, construction of the Washington Monument would not be completed until February 21, 1885.
