THE CHALLENGES OF
MIDDLE AND LATE
ADOLESCENCE GROUP BELONGINGNESS
• Adolescents strongly felt the need to find a
group to belong to and fit well in. • There is a warm sense of comfort when one can identify with a group of people who have similar interests and values. • Teenage years are usually marked with one’s peers as the center of the teenager’s social relationships. GROUP BELONGINGNESS
• It pays to be true to oneself, and understand
that one does not need to please other people by doing what they want to do. • In the Philippines, there has been countless numbers of deaths from fraternity hazing. • It is always good to talk to an experienced adult before making choices like these. RELATIONSHIPS
• Relationships require a person to be emotionally
mature. • This may be difficult when maintaining a relationship with one’s parents who may have opponent views. • But parents sometimes imagine the worst scenarios- Is it a safe place? Will the person driving be good at driving? • When adolescents fail to understand why their parents are being “overly” protective, strict/controlling, they tend to rebel. RELATING WITH PEERS
• One’s barkada is easier as adolescents share
the same boat and carry similar questions, concerns and complaints. • While it is easy to establish friendships, it is more challenging to maintain friendships. • True friendship is built on mutual respect and trust. ROMANTIC FRIENDSHIPS
• Due to the highly intense and strong
emotional involved in this type of relationships, one may not be thinking more with reason and objectivity. • Broken hearts may allow one person to know more about himself and the way he copes with these challenges. SEXUALITY AND SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS
• During these adolescent years,
one’s hormones become very active and brings many sexual passions. SEXUALITY AND SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS
• Though it may be hard to tell the
difference between genuine love and infatuation, it would be good to ask this question: if I am not feeling to be physical with him, would he still want to pursue our romantic relationship? ACADEMIC CONCERNS
• It can be easy to get distracted
with other things that may divert one’s attention from fulfilling one’s academic obligations. ACADEMIC CONCERNS
• Another academic concern could be the
fear of failure. • Too much anxiety may hinder a person from doing one’s best. • On the other hand, it has also been scientifically shown that too little anxiety will also inhibit a person’s performance. ACADEMIC CONCERNS

a person achieve goals of academic excellence and further studies. • the most important lesson one learns in school is how one learns. • One choice of a career will have P a direct impact on the future and TH help guide its course.
