ADOLESCENCE
GROUP BELONGINGNESS

• Adolescents strongly felt the need to find a


group to belong to and fit well in.
• There is a warm sense of comfort when one
can identify with a group of people who have
similar interests and values.
• Teenage years are usually marked with one’s
peers as the center of the teenager’s social
relationships.

• It pays to be true to oneself, and understand


that one does not need to please other
people by doing what they want to do.
• In the Philippines, there has been countless
numbers of deaths from fraternity hazing.
• It is always good to talk to an experienced
adult before making choices like these.
RELATIONSHIPS

• Relationships require a person to be emotionally


mature.
• This may be difficult when maintaining a relationship
with one’s parents who may have opponent views.
• But parents sometimes imagine the worst scenarios- Is
it a safe place? Will the person driving be good at
driving?
• When adolescents fail to understand why their parents
are being “overly” protective, strict/controlling, they
tend to rebel.
RELATING WITH PEERS

• One’s barkada is easier as adolescents share


the same boat and carry similar questions,
concerns and complaints.
• While it is easy to establish friendships, it is
more challenging to maintain friendships.
• True friendship is built on mutual respect and
trust.
ROMANTIC FRIENDSHIPS

• Due to the highly intense and strong


emotional involved in this type of
relationships, one may not be thinking more
with reason and objectivity.
• Broken hearts may allow one person to know
more about himself and the way he copes with
these challenges.
SEXUALITY AND SEXUAL
RELATIONSHIPS

• During these adolescent years,


one’s hormones become very
active and brings many sexual
passions.

• Though it may be hard to tell the


difference between genuine love and
infatuation, it would be good to ask
this question: if I am not feeling to be
physical with him, would he still
want to pursue our romantic
relationship?
ACADEMIC CONCERNS

• It can be easy to get distracted


with other things that may divert
one’s attention from fulfilling
one’s academic obligations.

• Another academic concern could be the


fear of failure.
• Too much anxiety may hinder a person
from doing one’s best.
• On the other hand, it has also been
scientifically shown that too little anxiety
will also inhibit a person’s performance.

• Grades are important because it helps


a person achieve goals of academic
excellence and further studies.
• the most important lesson one learns
in school is how one learns.
• One choice of a career will have P
a direct impact on the future and TH
help guide its course.
