SKILLS ACQUIRED AS A PSYCHOLOGIST

• This particular internship out of all the offline and online internships I have attended proved to be the most
useful one. The 90 hours were completely packed with intensive exposure to knowledge. Not only had I
learned a great deal of theoretical knowledge, but also of practices in work-settings, with the help of my
great mentor, Dr. Gagandeep Kaur.
• I was able to acquire skills like confidentiality, active listening, empathy etc. as well as the use of such skills
to strengthen the relationship between a counselor/ psychologist and a client. I also learnt about the goal-
development aspects and the issues faced by a professional, and how to resolve such issues. The supervisor
continuously kept us engaged with activities and discussions so that we take away a great deal of knowledge
and understanding.
• Quite notably, I understood how these skills like communication, understanding one and knowledge about
ethical and legal aspects is important for a psychologist to carry forward and apply in their profession to
prove to be an effective helper. And so I am going to try my best and apply the knowledge, not only in my
professional life but also in my personal life.
