Canada
In this race, we will have four teams and four
locations.
We will begin the race at SCITS high school.

STARTING POINT
SCITS, Sarnia, ON info
Sarnia is located in Southwestern Ontario on the shore
of the St. Clair River. It has a population of
approximately 72,366 people. We will start the race in
this city at SCITS high school. We will leave from the
Chris Hadfield Airport.
Where you’re going next…
The next location is located on the west coast. The
city is located in the furthest province west. The
2010 Olympics were held in this province. This
city is about 2 hours away from Vancouver. The
next city is Whistler, BC.
FIRST LOCATION
About Whistler, BC
Whistler is located in southern British Columbia. It has a
population of approx. 9, 842 people. A few popular tourist
attractions include the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, Ziplining and
Via Ferrata Rock Climbing. Whistler is part of the Innuition
Mountains which is why these attractions are there.
How you’re going to get to
Whistler, BC
You will take a cab to the Chris Hadfield Airport in
Sarnia. The airplane will take you to the Toronto
Pearson International Airport then you will take a flight
to the Vancouver International Airport where you will
pick up your rental car. Then you will drive on the
4545 Blackcomb way for 2 hours until you arrive in
Whistler. Once you are in Whistler, find the Ziptrek
Ecotours where you will complete your detour
challenge.

SECOND LOCATION
About Elliston, NL
Elliston is located in Newfoundland. It is a very small
town and has a population of 340 people. Wildlife in
this area includes the Atlantic Puffin which is the
national bird of Newfoundland. So, major tourist
attraction are mostly related to the puffin. These
attractions include the puffin train and the puffin
viewing site. Elliston also has many root cellars. A root
cellar is something that was built to keep vegetables
from freezing in winter and keep things cool in
summer.

How you’re going to get there
You will jump on the Rocky Mountaineer Whistler
Train from Whistler to Vancouver. Then take a
plane ride to St. Johns where you will pick up
your rental car and drive for four hours to Elliston.
Then you will find the puffin viewing site to begin
your detour challenge.

About Whitehorse, YT
Whitehorse is located in the Yukon. Whitehorse
has a population of 27, 889 people. Wildlife that
you may see here includes Arctic Fox, Lynx, Elk,
Moose and Mountain Goats. A few popular tourist
attractions in the area include the Copperbelt
Railway & Mining Museum, the Takhini hot
springs and the Whitehorse Waterfront Trolley.
