Sources of heat in Mine Air

 • High temperature of surface air


• Surface air entering the mine can carry with it some heat if the surface
temperature is high compared to the underground temperature.
• Heat due to auto-compression
• 1.1 KPa per 100 meter or 1°C per 100 meter

• Heat from rock due to geothermal gradient

• Geothermal gradient is 2.5 °C per 100 meter.
