The LCD in the main node is used to display the values
of all the three applications.
•A liquid crystal display (LCD) is a thin, flat panel used for
electronically displaying information
•Only 4 data lines (DB4-DB7)are used for display in digital
dash boards

• It is synchronous serial communication protocol
• Conceived by Motorola.
• It supports full duplex communication .
• It consists of the following signals:
> SCK/SCLK- serial clock
> MOSI- master-out slave-in
> MISO-master-in slave-out
> SS- slave select (chip select)
 CAN is a vehicle bus standard designed to allow
microcontrollers and devise to communication with
each other

 Developed by Robert Bosch in 1986.

 It is multi master broadcast serial bus

ggstandard for connecting Electronic control units.

 Bit rate up to 1Mbps.

 Network length below 40mts.

A CAN network consists of a number of CAN nodes which are
linked via a physical transmission medium (CAN bus)
CAN CONTROLLER

MCP2515 hardware with a synchronous clock

is used as CAN controller
CAN controller is used as storage purpose.

CAN TRANSCEIVER

CAN transceiver handles the bus connection.

It is always has two bus pins.
• Economical and easily repairable.
• Performs essential tasks with ease
• Different ways of indicating speed of the
ddautomobile
• Innovative ideas to forewarn about the fuel levels
ddin the vehicle and the heat generated in the engine.
• Nowadays, the digital dashboard has been updated
ddto store records and VIN number of the automobile
ddto help in tracking the stolen automobile.
• The data will be erased in case of an automobile
ffcrash.
• Rash handling like vandalism will completely
hdestroy the instrument.
• Improper replacements of nodes will effect the
fmemory chip.
• Irregulaties in power supply can destroy the
ddashboard.

• Dashboard is one of the prime component in many
applications and thus its constant updation for simplicity
will widen its range to other fields.
• With the evolution of CAN protocol the designing of
digital dashboards has become more efficient
• CAN hardware has become so cheap and is integrated
into so many microcontrollers, it's a design option well
worth considering the next time you want to get your
embedded systems talking to each other.
