    INTRODUCTION

    • The major problem of power interruption in distribution system is


    single phase fault
    • During single phase fault power is available in other two phase
    • To use this power we apply manual operation which results in fire
    accident
    • To avoid all these problems we use an automatic configuration
    know as “DIGITAL PHASE SELECTOR”
    BLOCK DIAGRAM OF DIGITAL PHASE SELECTOR
    DIGITAL PHASE SELECTOR CONSIST MAINLY
    FOUR BLOCK :-

    • Phase sensing and switching block


    • Control logic block
    • Relay driver section
    • Power supply unit
    PHASE SENSING AND SWITCHING BLOCK:-
    • It gives information to optocoupler about phase sensing
    • Hence switching operation operation is performed .

    • CONTROL LOGICES BLOCKS:-


    • The control logic circuitry decides the phase priority for one out
    of four lines
    RELAY DRIVER SECTION :-
    • The relay driver gets signal from the control logic circuit.
    • According to the signal it will activate the corresponding relay to
    operate
    • The relay driver section gives electrical signal to the strip of the
    relay
    • Relay contacts close and the power flows to load
    POWER SUPPLY UNIT :-

    • A pure 5v D.C is provided by the power supply unit


    • The power supply unit consists of adjustable regulator which
    varies automatically the voltage during normal running
    conditions.

    WORKING OF DIGITAL PHASE SELECTOR :-
    • Initially we detect the phase with phase with the help of phase
    sensing unit
    • On the basis of output of phase sensing unit control logic circuit
    gives priority to the phase.
    • Relay driven circuit words on priority of phase given by control
    logic circuit.
    • Power supply unit provide pure D.C to drive all the device
    • Hence we avoid power interruption in the distribution system.

    APPLICATION :-

    • Can be used in apartments .


    • Used in EMERGENCIES i.e. ,in ICU ‘S Operation theatre’s
    • Used in industries & offices.
    • In shopping malls
    • Can also be used engineering colleges,
    ADVANTAGES OF DIGITAL PHASE
    SELECTOR:-

    • No mechanical contacts.
    • Compact in size.
    • High frequency switching technology.
    • Can be used for all single phase loads.
    CONCLUSION
    • The DIGITAL PHASE SELECTOR is an advanced technique
    which not only used for automation .
    • It is one of the techniques for power quality improvement .
    • It does not contain any mechanical contacts, hence losses are
    negligible.
