System message summarize

In CDMA system, mostly the procedure is

drivered by message.
some CH only just for signal message:
• Sync Channel (forward)
• Paging Channel (forward)
• Access Channel (reverse)

Some CH use for service:

• Forward Traffic Channel
• Reverse Traffic Channel
Mostly time for service, a little time for sign

Sync CH message

• On the sync CH
• When MS is Mobile Station Initialition State , can get
system configuration and time information from this m

• Important parameter
– The release of revised edition
– SID,NID,PILOT_PN
– System time
– PCH rate
– Frequency assignment & extend frequency assign

System Parameters Message

• On PCH
• Indicate other system message on PCH useable or not ; inform
MS the change of PCH, order search again, tell the roaming st
atus of MS, offer registration parameter, ect

• Important parameter – T-COMP,T-TDROP

– PILOT_PN, SID,NID

– System rechoose parameter
– Access HO parameter
– GPS assistant indication
MS registration

• Function of MS registration
 Report the location & status of MS ;when cal
led, MS can be paged
 When in TS mode, CDMA2000 MS offer SLO
T_CYCLE_INDEX , for BSC knowing which
TS MS is monitoring
 Tell the MS style & protocol version to BSS
for BSS getting the MS ability
MS registration cause
• In the CDMA system, the cases as followed can cause registrati
on procedure :
– Power-Up Registration
– Power-Down Registration
– Timer-Based Registration
– Distance-Based Registration
– Zone-Based Registration
– Parameter-Change Registration
– Ordered Registration
– Traffic Channel Registration
– User Zone Registration
• besides , CDMA still have Implicit Registration , means that w
hen MS access ,MS register, but no expert procedure.

Handoff types

• Hard HO: MS cut the connection with BTS1, then set up a new
connection with BTS2. Firstly disconnection ,then a new
connection. During the period, communication will be interrupted
for a short time.

• Soft HO : MS have connections with multi-cells. No interrupt.

• Softer HO: the soft handoff between different sectors in the

same BTS site. No interrupt.

• Radio data user has 3 state:

– ACTIVE : radio TCH exist between MS and BTS, both ca
n send data .Keep connecting in A1 、 A8 、 A10 .
– Dormant : no radio TCH between MS and BTS, but PPP
connection exist . Release A1 、 A8 connections, keep A10
connection.
– NULL: no radio TCH , no PPP connection between MS and
BTS . Release A1 、 A8 、 A10 connections.
