Sources Chrétiennes

 Sources Chrétiennes is a bilingual

collection of patristic texts founded in
Lyon in 1943 by the Jean Daniélou,
Claude Mondésert, and Henri de Lubac.

 The collection is edited by the Institut

des Sources Chrétiennes and published
in Paris by Les Éditions du Cerf.
Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum
Latinorum
 The Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum Latinorum
(CSEL) is a series of critical editions of the Latin
Church Fathers published by a committee of the
Austrian Academy of Sciences.

 The CSEL is intended to include the ecclesiastical

authors who wrote in Latin from the late 2nd century
AD until the death of Bede in 735. The texts are edited
on the basis of all extant manuscripts and according to
the principles of modern textual criticism and thus aim
to provide a critical replacement for the corresponding
volumes of the Patrologia Latina.

Clavis Patrum Latinorum
 Clavis patrum latinorum [CPL]. E. Dekkers. 2nd ed. 1961; 3rd
ed. Turnhout 1995.

 For Christian Latin authors from Tertullian to Bede (d. 735), a

valuable “key” to verifying authorship (for example, the actual
authors of many sermons attributed to St. Augustine are
identified) and locating editions and manuscript studies; only
material bearing on the establishment of the text is covered, not
critical studies.

The New 'Clavis Patrum Latinorum'

 A list of the differences between the 1961 and

may be found in J. VERHEYDEN, The New
'Clavis Patrum Latinorum', in Ephemerides
Theologicae Louvanienses 73 (1997) pp. 121-
143.  This classifies the new texts by literary
genre.
 Verheyden does not include Latin translations
of Greek texts, a much neglected field in which
there has likewise been progress.
