    What have you learn from

    your audience feedback.


    Initial audience research
    Making sure we pick the right target audience is
    essential, picking the wrong target audience in the
    music industry would mean a lack of sales. Our
    target audience is 16 years+ for both genders. A
    reason for picking this age range was the fact that
    people 16 and above are most likely to buy music.
    Demographic Profiling
    G - Gender - Both Male and Females
    R - Race - White
    A - Age- 16+
    S
    Socio-economic status - Our Socio-economic
    status is from C1-B. C1 is being skilled non manual
    workers and B being intermediate managerial
    workers.
    Psychographic profiling
    Mainstream and Aspirers are our main audience as
    these are them people that are more likely to be
    drawn to our music, as they are easy to please.

    Dinkeys - Double income no kids yet - These are likely


    to spend money on buying music as they are bound
    to have lots of spare money.
    Hew - High earning worker - these again have lots of
    money to spend on luxury products like music.
    How to appeal?
    Nick lacey - ‘Offer the audience something similar but different’. This quote was very
    inspirational to us when we was planning our project as it was exactly what we
    wanted to do. Take the typical conventions of a indie music video and put a
    slight twist of them.
    We followed the typical costume that would be used in a indie video. Having the
    Artist is very realistic clothing, jeans and a leather jacket, as we wanted the band
    to appear ‘gritty’.
    As well as costume, we used typical gritty locations, these are locations that our
    audience will be very familiar with and will be able to relate to. However these is
    a few rules that we did break to make it different for the audience. We didn’t
    have the artist playing any instrument through the entire music video which is
    unusual. Also instead of having the full attention on our artist, we also had a
    actress that was symbolising someone losing the plot. Having this story line is
    very uncommon for an indie music video.
    Techniques
    We used a lot of editing techniques to make our music
    video appear more gritty to make it appeal to the
    target audience. We colour graded every clip in the
    music video to make it appear darker than it really
    was. I felt this was really effective as it make the clips
    look grimmer.
    We always speeded up a couple of the clips to make
    it match the speed of the track more.
    Also we used green screening, this made the music
    video very different to normal indie music videos, as
    they tend to not use green screening. This made this
    music video different and interesting.
    Audience feedback
    Negatives
    There wasn’t enough close ups of our main audience, this makes it harder
    for the audience to great a bond with the audience.

    Some of our shots where to long, this makes the audience get bored of the
    music video a lot more easily.

    and in between her hair.

    Positives
    Location was credited, we was very happy with this as it was something we
    thought hard about.

    Also the shots of our actress was credited, they felt they was really thought
    about and worked really well.

    Most of the audience was really impressed with our green screening and
    how we made it appear that the actress was tearing away the
    background.
