Where is Denmark?
Denmark is a country in Western Europe. It is surrounded by Germany and

Sweden, as shown in the picture to the right.


The Basics
Denmark’s population is 5.371 million people. It has been a monarchy, a representative democracy, a
federacy, a parliamentary system, a unitary state, a constitutional monarchy, and a hereditary monarchy
before. In Denmark, the official language is Danish.

The official name of Denmark is The Kingdom of Denmark. (How fancy!)


Major Exports & Products
Denmark exports industrial machinery, chemical products, furniture, pharmaceuticals, canned ham and
pork, windmills, and LEGO. Denmark also harvests pork, beef, poultry, dairy, potato starch, grass seeds,
and grain.
Weather
Denmark has mild winters and cool summers. The average high in July is 63 degrees Fahrenheit. The
average low in January is 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Denmark gets 23.6 inches of precipitation per year.

Christmas is a big deal in Denmark. Most of the

population is either Orthodox or Catholic. Tivoli,

the city pictured to the right, is a hotspot for

tourism and Christmas activity.

Clothing
Like other Western Europe countries, Denmark has a lot of American symbolism and it tends to follow
style trends. Traditionally, however, people wore folk clothing.

Traditional Food
In order from left to right, we see tebirke (poppy seed pastry), ollebrod (rye porridge), a famous Danish
hot dog, and smorrebrod (shrimp on white bread).
