Partial cross-feeding of antennas can impact MIMO detection and coverage in LTE networks. For FDD networks with a 2T2R configuration, a partial cross-feed can prevent MIMO detection at the main antenna lobes, even if the rank indicator detects a rank of 2. For TDD networks with a 4T4R configuration, a partial cross-feed may still allow MIMO detection due to the network being designed for 4T4R, but signal strength of individual PCIs need to be checked to identify any cross-feeding issues.

Partial Cross Feeder Issue
ToC
Case Cross Feeder Partial
at FDD and impact coverage Right Installation for FDD 2T/2R Right Installation for FDD 2T/4R Sample Wrong Installation FDD (2T2R)….1
From picture, we can see that every
antenna, no MIMO condition cause of wrong connection, but in real condition Rank Indicator can still detect value 2 (MIMO), at side lobe antenna Sample Wrong Installation FDD (2T2R)….2 Sample Wrong Installation FDD (2T2R)….3 From RSRP for PCI, we can see PCI 381 & PCI 383 almost cover all area sector 1 & 3, with good RSRP But no MIMO detection at main lobe antenna ToC

From picture, even at cross feeder
partial MIMO condition can be establish, cause of design planned to be 4T4R, To make sure there is cross or not, please check PCI and RSRP for each PCI Sample Wrong Installation TDD (4T4R)….2 Sample Wrong Installation TDD (4T4R)….3 From RSRP for PCI, we can see PCI 36 not strong enough at it main lobe Sample Wrong Installation TDD (4T4R)….3 Condition RSRP & RI, when Drive test with Locked PCI to 36 Sample Wrong Installation TDD (4T4R)….3 Condition RSRP & RI, when Drive test with Locked PCI to 37
