By using this option, you can copy a standard pre-delivered SAP HANA Live
view and then extend it.
SAP Live Extension Assistant
Copying the view in this way assures that you are not impacting others using the standard view, and also
speeds up the development process. This way, you only have to focus on the additions you are making
and do not have to know all the underlying complexity that may exist in the views (some have 8 to 10
nested views and custom joins).
Reporting on SAP HANA Live with BusinessObjects
It is important to note that some of the newer SAP data visualization and reporting tools (such as SAP Lumira) have native
connectivity to SAP HANA and can skip the need to connect through a BusinessObjects universe, allowing you to connect
directly to the views.
This direct connection to SAP HANA query views can allow for less latency in reporting, which
means even faster front-end execution of reports and visualizations.
Alternatives to Using Universes– Lumira Example
This means that a universe is not required and data can be consumed directly from the
underlying HANA system through the HANA Live views and S/4HANA Embedded
Analytics you might have created or extended.

The difference between SAP HANA Live &
S/4HANA Embedded Analytics
SAP HANA Live and S/4 Embedded
Analytics are both standard SAP delivered
content for real-time operational reporting.
These are similar to content in HANA Live, The S/4 HANA Embedded Analytics consist of VDMs,
and developers also get a tool to build their Queries, Fiori Apps, Cockpits, reports and many other
components

Note that the QA and Production system are kept the same size so that performance tests
are accurate and so that the QA system can be used as for disaster recovery
Multitenant Database Containers (MDC) Deployments
Tenant Tenant
•You can manage resources such as memory and
Database Database CPU for each of the tenant databases
• The privilege “Database Admin” allows you to separate admin access to each database
• You can convert a HANA system to MDC, but it cannot be converted back
(command: hdbnsutil –convertToMultiDB)
MDC Monitoring
The HANA
cockpit can
monitor both the
system and tenant
databases
