    Course Description

    • Advanced English is appropriate for senior English majors.

    • objectives:
    • Cultivating students’ abilities in trans-cultural communicatio
    n (emphasis on culture learning)
    • Appreciating original English articles
    • Developing students’ skills in analysis and paraphrases
    • Improving students' four language skills: listening, speaking,
    reading and writing.
    • Appreciating varied writing styles and rich rhetorical devices
    Teaching Content

    • compulsary lessons:
    • Lesson 2 Hiroshima---the "Liveliest" City in Japan
    • Lesson 3 Blackmail
    • Lesson 4 The Trial That Rocked the World
    • Lesson 6 Mark Twian---Mirror of America
    • Lesson 13 No Signposts in the sea
    • Lesson 14 Speech on Hitler's Invasion of the U.S.S.R
    Course Grading

    • The course grade will be based on the students’ daily perform


    ances, a midterm exam, and a final-term exam.

    • Daily performance is consisted of four parts:

    Course Requirements
