Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection causing a
severe flu-like illness and, sometimes causing a
potentially lethal complication called severe dengue.

 Dengue is common in more than 100 countries

billion people, live in areas with a risk of dengue.
 Dengue is often a leading cause of illness in areas
with risk.
How Does Dengue Spread?

 A mosquito (usually of the Aedes species) bites an

 This mosquito is now infected with dengue fever.

Mosquitoes are only carriers of the disease, it
does not affect them as it does humans.

 The mosquito bites a human. That human is now

infected with the virus. He or she will then infect
any unaffected mosquitoes that bite them.
