Christianity in the Philippines other than the natural spices, that is
why the Philippines was mostly consists of a Roman Catholic
population. During the colonization, the ancestors adopt the
culture of the Spanish people and especially in religion. Catholics
believe in the doctrine of God as the 'Holy Trinity', where the
Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit is one. Roman Catholic was
ruled by the Church and the priesthood, above them, was led by
a Pope, who has the highest authority.

Spanish was the official language. Years passed, English and Tagalog
become the official language. Then years later, the constitution was revised
and Filipino becomes the National Language.

Filipino is the national language of the Philippines, it is the basic language
used in school, home, and media, and it’s also the lingua franca that unites
the Pilipino in terms of communication despite the different language that the
Philippines have.

Sebuano or Cebuano language, speakers are spread it is used over Negros,
Cebu, Bohol, and many more, closely related to the language Ilongo and
classified as a dialect of Visayan people.

values of our ancestors, and today's generation of people.
'MANO
PO'and also referred to as bless' in English, it is
"Mano" is a way of accepting blessing to the elders,
usually done when visiting an elder or in entering a house or gathering. It is done by bowing the
head towards the offered hand and press the forehead to the offered hand by the elders.
Sometimes, it requires to ask permission by asking "Mano po".
'PO at OPO'
Po at Opo is used as a sign of respect especially to the elders. Po is used at the end of a phrase or
sentence when talking to someone. Opo is used to agree.
'ATE at KUYA'
Ate and Kuya are used to call an older male or female instead of their names, it is an act of respect.
Ate is used to refer to a female, and Kuya is used to refer to a male. This can also apply to those
non-blood-related persons.

Spaniards created fiestas to gradually persuade the population to convert to the
Roman Catholic faith.

For many Filipinos, fiestas are important because of the miraculous power of the
saints. It is believed that the saints are responsible for all the good fortune and
favor one receives.A mass, novenas, grand parade, beauty pageants,
processions, and many other activities are prepared for this special day that
brings all the whole community together to express gratitude to God.
CELEBRATIONS
The celebrations that many people enjoy today are influence by the
colonizers, especially to the Spaniards, such as Christmas, Epiphany,
Festivals, and many more. Catholic celebrations are mostly about their
beliefs.
SIMBANG GABI
The Simbang Gabi is a novena that leads to christmas. For nine days
before Christmas, Catholics attended morning Christmas Mass. It is
believed that if you cmplited the attendance of the mass, a wish will be
granted. During Christmas Eve, Christians go to church to hear the last
'simbang gabi' or the Christmas Eve mass. This is followed by a midnight
feast, called Noche Buena.

Christians in the Philipines celebrated Christmas to honor the Messiah, Jesus Christ,
born day. During Christmas, people assemble the Christmas tree and decorated it
with Christmas ornaments such as Christmas balls, flowers, Christmas light, and
many more. Also, the house is full of decorations that are appealing to the eye.'
Parol' or lanterns that are made up of bamboo sticks and shaped like a star, can be
seen during Christmas because it symbolizes the guiding that helps the Magi or the
three kings on their way to baby Jesus.
The Noche Buena is a big celebration with family, friends, and neighbors dropping in
to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Most households would have prepared some
dishes to share with others. The remaining days of the Christmas season are spent
visiting kin, especially on New Year's Day and Epiphany, January 6. That is why the
Philippines has the longest Christmas celebration.

Americans sent a ship to the Philipines, named Thomas with 300 plus teacher on
board, which are called Thomasites, they are the first teacher in the Philippines
and established the first public schools.

today's generation. Education is the face of the future.

Rice is a staple food amongDAY
Filipinos. They eat rice for breakfast, lunch, and
dinner. In some cases, they eat rice in-between meals or during snacks. Even if
there’s limited dish available, it’s not a problem as long as rice is present, and
they’ll just use condiments such as toyo (soy sauce), suka (vinegar), or bagoong
(shrimp paste) to spice up a simple meal.
