• The Campus Trivaux-La Garenne site is
made up of two large units: The sports
complex, consisting of a dojo, a
gymnasium, a sports area and a tennis
court, grouped together in a building on the
ground floor
• The school complex extends to the DRC
and is punctuated by playgrounds and
surmounted by three R + 1 volumes
housing elementary schools, and a central
volume housing the cultural center.
• The sports complex is shaped to follow the
curves of the landscape. Designed to be an Sports area
authentic city of sports, its rolling shape Gymnasium Dojo hall
fits the intended use and the official
dimensions of sports activity areas. Tennis hall

one gigantic envelope. As if bent out of
shape by its many uses, the building fits
into the surroundings beautifully.
Introduction
• The sports complex is a curvaceous Bracing rods
landscape building whose design implied

high technical and aesthetic requirements.
It is an ambitious use and original of the Q lvl panel beams
cross-folded laminates which was chosen
for this complex frame and large-scale, Polycarbonate
thus offering the possibility of making facade
large curved box girders.
• The use of a cross-ply Laminate panel
made from box beams great architectural
freedom by allowing large spans to be
made, while working on optimizing the
wooden structure. The beams are cut from
laminate panels to 2.50m wide cross folds
up to 69mm thick
• The dimensions of the complex can be
likened to a rectangle of 130m by 40m,
with a maximum building height of
10.35m, above the gymnasium space on
the east facade.

• The undulating roof is wrapped with standing seam
aluminium profile, which meets the high technical
and aesthetic requirements of this design. This
envelope descends to the natural ground on the North
and South facades.
• On the west facade is made up over its entire height
of a thin grid of stainless steel cables, and a metal
supporting structure drawing a identifiable pattern.
This same pattern is found on the east facade,
running along the entire alley pedestrian; it adorns a
polycarbonate facade in an opal white which closes Linear sheet

Materials
Brace rod
• The roof consists of a 3 m x 3 m
grid structure, which is formed
from primary rafters connected
to each other with secondary Steel bracket

and stiffness of the beams.

• The geometry of the wooden roof
structure is extremely variable and
complex.
• The metal façade transfers loads to the
wooden frame, but do not contribute
to the overall stability of the building.
This was solved by a grillage frame
structure made of Kerto laminated
veneer lumber beams.
• The structure transfers the loads from
roofing, while imposing the desired
architectural form.
