The village Suka
 Originally known as Panchmuli.
 Original location : upstream of main dam.
 Present location : 5 kms from Kevadia.

The PRO¶s :
 Provision of employment.
 5 acres of land was provided per family.
 New fertile lands were provided.
 Other facilities like water tanks, primary
school, health centre etc.

 
The CON¶s :
 Injustice on the part of land reimbursement
to the resettled villagers.
 People displaced at far off places.
 Separation of families.
 Employment is not sustainable.
 No provision for secondary education.
 Kuchha roads & water tank is not working.
 0emale labour.
 No benefits in electricity.

Issue :
 Not under the PA0s.
 No imbursement of lands even though
their lands were acquired.

 Residential plot of 500 sq. mts.
 Assistance of Rs. 45,000 for the
construction of core house.
 Subsistence allowance of Rs. 4500.
 Rs 7000 for productive assets like bullocks
and agricultural equipments.
 Resettlement grant of Rs. 450.

 Internal electrification of Rs1.5 per unit
free of cost.
 Personal accident insurance.
 A school and children¶s park in each
resettlement site.

are settled.

 Grant of ownership rights over the projects
in the form of 20% of the compensation in
the form of shares of the proposed project.
 Life time pension for the vulnerable
sections.
 The policy talks about housing benefits
including houses to landless affected
families in the rural areas.
 0inancial support to the affected families
for construction of cattle sheds, shops and
working sheds.

Comparison of the personal studies with the


official data and the NEP 2007 concludes :
 No electrification benefits.
 No allowances provided as promised.
 Injustice on the part of the land
reimbursement.
 No housing benefits.
 No ownership rights given as stated in
NEP 2007.
