INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Information Technology refers to an entire

field that uses computers, networking,
software, and other equipment to manage
information electronically in a digital form
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION
TECHNOLOGY

Information and Communication Technology can be

considered as an extended version of the term IT as it
involves ‘C’ that represents the communication of data
by electronic means, usually over some distance.
Communication refers to the media broadcasting
technologies, audio/video processing and transmission
and telephony.
COMPUTER SCIENCE
 Computer Science is the mother of all computational disciplines
(Computer Engineering, Information Technology/Information
Science, Software Engineering, ICT, etc). In simple words, Computer
Science is all about computers. In contrast with IT, CS is the science
of computing with in depth knowledge of working principles of
computers whereas information technology is the science designed to
make best use of information systems to make work easier in
business environments
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN IT AND ICT
 In IT, hardware is the basic computer box and associated peripheral devices: scanners, printers, CD-
ROM, DVD drive
 In ICT, hardware necessarily includes those devices, such as modems, routers and servers that makes
communication possible within and between networks
 IT refers to an entire industry that uses computers, networking, software and other equipment to
manage information, whereas ICT can be seen as an integration of IT with media broadcasting
technologies, audio/ video processing and transmission and telephony. Therefore, ICT can be seen as
an extended acronym for IT. The term ICT is widely used in the context of education, whereas IT is a
term widely used in the industry. In addition, recently, ICT is also used to refer to the integration of
telephone and audio/ visual networks with computer networks. In simplest terms, ICT can be seen as
the integration of information technology with communication technology.
HOW IT CAN HELP AN ORGANIZATION IN GAINING A
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE ON ITS OPERATIONS

 Adoption of information technology resources allows companies to

maintain a competitive advantage over their rivals. Companies using a
first-movers strategy can use information technology to create new
products, distance their products from the existing market or enhance
their customer services. Businesses can also build-in information
technology to their products that makes it difficult for customers to
switch platforms or products.
ICT FOR EDUCATION

 The application of ICT in education has contributed to the development of learning

technology. In the implementation of daily learning. The internet is a cheap communication
tool which allows interaction between two or more people, with ICT we can use it for online
discussions, online classes, or we can search book in online library. Worlwide research has
shown that ICT can lead to an improved student learning and better teaching methods
ICT FOR HEALTH

 ICT in healthcare research helps in finding the possible prevention measure to

eradicate and reduce the spread of diseases history namely with a smart card-based
system, that can be used by medical interpreters to find out the patient’s illness history
or diagnosis which reduce the time and cost. And the use of robot to assist the process
of surgery and the use of three-dimensional imaging computers to show the location of
tumors in the patient’s body
ICT FOR BUSINESS

 ICT make a business more efficient, effective, and share vast amounts of
data. ICT helps business to communicate with several people, and the can
do this by using technology such as fax machines, phones, internet, and
email. For the example, ICT has been widely used to support business
processes that occur in companies, both in the economic and banking fields
HOW THE INFORMATION CAN BE CONVERTED, STORED, PROTECTED,
PROCESSED, TRANSMITTED, AND RETRIEVED USING COMPUTERS AND
ITS SOFTWARE.

 In the field of computer science, information is data that is stored,

processed, or transmitted. This research focuses on the definition of
information as knowledge gained from learning, experience, or instruction.
Information is data that has been given meaning through context. For a
given information processors, whether physical or biological, a token is an
object, devoid of meaning.
KEY APPLICATIONS OF ICT THAT I WILL LEARN DURING
THIS COURSE UNIT

 There is a lot of application that i have already know, but i will learn more
some application that can support my education, like Google Classroom,
Microsoft Teams, Edmodo, and Mendeley. This ICT Skills course is
planned to do more and make it more easier for my education.
