LESSON OBJECTIVES
• Students should be able to :
• Understand the timeline of dubai and
how it was before and how it is now, like
how a plain dry desert got established
and developed unbelievably with modern
infrastructures , technology and internet.
INTRODUCTION
• A few years ago there were just two
structures In the world that could be
seen from space . The first of these was
the Great Wall of China and The second
Hoover Dam ,commissioned in the US by
1936. If we told people that we intended
to join China and US and build a
structure that could be seen from space
the response might have been “dream
on” .
• But by 1979, Dubai had commissioned
the 67th Jebel Ali port . The world’s
largest man-made port, which can be
seen from space this unique ‘club’ of
structures Visible from space has been
joined By the Palm Islands, the world’s
largest Residential and tourism , man
made islands.
ABOUT THE WORLD’S BEST HORSES
• Horse races usually train and race in
Europe, In an age-old tradition that no
one dares to try to change. When we
announced our intention to train our
horse in an arab country during the
winter months the racing Fraternity
protested. They said the proposal was
outrageous, we would fail and our horses
would never win.
• It seems some people did’nt know us very
well.
• The worlds best horses are now being trained
in dubai.
• We fly them to Europe to take part in races
and then fly back to home to their training
base. Godolphin Has become world renowned
in managing global horse racing operations
and we are still winning races as we used to .
THOUGHTS OF PEOPLE ON
DUBAI’S INTERNET
• They said : “You have no internet or technology
to speak about, and can’t be considered as a
media hub,so how can you consider building
the whole ‘city’ dedicated to internet,
technology and media?
• You will be taking a massive risk if you do”.
When i proposed the project,I invited the
number of the worlds most prominent
technologies company to join.
• All these companies are firmly established in the
dubai internet city, in addition to scores of others. If
we had’nt taken the risk, the number of technology
and media companies in dubai.
• Dubai would never have reached to 700 mark of
today we would never have turned the United Arab
Emirates into one of middle east’s most important
internet, technology and media hubs, and the media
would not have enjoyed its present freedom
THE DUBAI AIRLINES
•At a time when airlines were reducing the
size of their fleets in order to reduce their
operational costs and manage the crisis
that hit the industry, raising their losses to
AED 113 billion , we concluded a US$15
billion deal to purchase and additional
fifty-eight aircraft.
• During the financial year ending march 2005,
Emirates Airline had added nine new aircraft
to its fleet, raising its total to fifty-seven with
an average of 4.5 years.
• The airline is now planning to raise the total
number of its jet aircraft fleet to 150
(including twelve cargo planes) by 2012,to
meet an expected rise in the number of
passengers travelling the airline’s routes to 33
million

THE DUBAI WAY
• If we want to summarize the previous paragraphs
we could say that these projects represent “the
dubai way of doing things”, consisting of :-
1.Crystalizing the vision;
2.Setting the goals;
3.Drawing the plan;
4.Setting the reasonable time for implementation;
5.Mobilizing the resources;
6.Giving the signal for implementation of the
project.
CONCLUSION...
• The main goal of dubai is to provide a working and a living
environment of international standard . A place of excellence
and creativity. Outside the offices of international, regional
and local exchanges and financial and investment
companies, you will find a blend of high-rise towers and
traditional quarters with an international touch; an opera
house, theatres, libraries, parks and fountains. cars noise
and smoke are conspicuous in their absence. We believe that
the ‘modernasitaion tax’ imposed in one of the world’s other
internancial financial centres is not welcome in Dubai and its
our intention to exempt all those who embrace DIFC as their
new world from having to pay it.
• People’s expectations have no limits and are like a revolving
door. People are always looking out for the best possible and
easiest means. And we must always surprise them with 1st
class services. if i cant continuously surprise the consumers
by providing quality beyond his expectaions ,I will no longer
be providing excellent service, In such a case i will lose over
a month for what i have invested years to build. Anyone who
compares the Dubai today with a Dubai a few years ago will
see a huge progress that gas taken place. Nevertheless, is
the journey continues and the road ahead is long. The more
we develop or upgrade, the more we will realise how much
we have missed and still need to grow.
