EVOLUTION TO TETRA PAK

 Traditionally food was produced and consumed


locally so packaging was not necessary.
 As the civilization grew, the need to contain,
protect and transport food supplies became critical.
 With the industrial revolution, the call for packaged
food rose and the manufacture for cheaper and
convenient alternatives for their customers.
 Six decades ago, an idea that changed the way the
world buys, consumes and stores the food was
born.
 The innovation addressed an endemic social
problem of food spoilage and its impact on human
health.
 Ruben Rausing founded Tetra Pak (Pully,
Switzerland) that went on to become one of the
largest food packaging companies in the world.
 Three decades ago, this food safety revolution came
to India.
 One of the largest Tetra Pak package manufacturing
factory is in Chakan, Pune , out of which around 30
million packs are supplied daily.
What is Tetra Pak???
 It’s a type of plasticized cardboard carton for
milk and other drinks, folded from a single sheet
into a box shape or any other shape.
