º rom te reports of te Encomiendas in 1582-83, te Encomiendas of Moron (Morong) was under te jurisdiction of La

was recorded tat in 1591, te Encomiendas of Moron and aitay were under te jurisdiction of te ranciscan Order in te
Province of La Laguna; and te Encomiendas of Nabotas (Navotas), ambobo (Malabon), ondo, Parañaque, Longalo
(Dongalo), agui and Pasig were under te jurisdiction of te Augustinians in te Province of ondo.
º In 1853, a new political subdivision was formed. is consisted of te towns of Antipolo, Bosoboso, Cainta and aytay from
te Province of ondo; and te towns of Morong, Baras, anay, Pililla, Angono, Binangonan and Jalajala from te Province
of La Laguna, wit te capital at Morong. is district was later canged to Distrito Politico-Militar de Morong after four years.
º In 1860, by virtue of Circular No. 83, dated September 2, 1859, te Province of ondo became te Province of Manila. All its
towns were placed under te administration, fiscal supervision and control of te Governor of te new province.
º e town of Mariquina (Marikina) became te capital of te Province of Manila during te tenure of te revolutionary
government of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. e Province of Morong ad for its capital te town of Antipolo for te period 1898-
1899, and te town of anay for 1899-1900.
º On ebruary 6, 1901, te Second Pilippine Commission sougt to establis civil government in te country troug a
provincial organization act after te ilipino-Spanis and ilipino-American conflicts.
º erefore, on June 5, 1901 a istoric meeting was eld at te Pasig Catolic Curc for te organization of a civil
government in te Provinces of Manila and Morong, wit 221 delegates in attendance. e first Pilippine Commission,
eaded by President illiam Howard aft and composed of Commissioners Luke E. rigt, Henry C. Ide, Bernard Moses
and Dean C. orcester, discussed wit te Assembly te issue of weter or not to write te Province of Manila wit
Morong Province, was not self-sufficient to operate as a separate province.
º Altoug te delegates from Morong, Don Hilarion Raymundo and Don Jose upas, objected to te proposal, Delegate Don
Juan Sumulong of Antipolo strongly advocated te move. After muc acrimonious debate and upon te suggestion of
Dr. rinidad H. Pardo de avera wo accompanied te commission te body agreed on te creation of a new province
independent of te Province of Manila. e new province was aptly named after Dr. Jose P. Rizal dubbed as te greatest
Malayan tat ever lived.
º On June 11, 1901, te province of Rizal was officially and legally created by virtue of an Act No.
137 by te irst Pilippine Commission wic during te time was acting as te unicameral
legislative body in te island of Luzon.
º e new province was composed of twenty-six municipalities, fourteen from te old Province of
Manila (Las Piñas, Malabon, Makati, Parañaque, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Navotas, Muntinlupa,
aguig, Pateros, Pasig, Marikina, San Mateo, and Montalban); and 12 from te Politico-Militar
District of Morong, (Angono, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Antipolo, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong,
Pililla, anay, aytay and eresa). e seat of te provincial government is Pasig.
º On 1942, te occupation by te Japanese Imperial Army forces entering te town in aytay. On
1945, local ilipino soldiers of te 41st, 42nd and 43rd Infantry Division of te Pilippine
Commonwealt Army and 4t Infantry Regiment of te Pilippine Constabulary was liberated and
entering te towns in aytay to elping te recognized guerrilla figter units to defeated and
attacking Japanese Imperial Army forces during te Soutern Luzon Campaign or Soutern
agalog Campaign and ended in orld ar II under te Japanese Occupation.
º On November 7, 1975, by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 824, te 12 towns of Las Piñas,
Parañaque, Muntinlupa, aguig, Pateros, Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Malabon, Navotas,
Pasig and Marikina were incorporated into te newly formed Metro Manila Area tereby leaving
teremaining 14 towns of San Mateo, Montalban, Cainta, aytay, Angono, Antipolo, Binangonan,
eresa, Morong, Cardona, anay, Baras, Pililla and Jalajala to te Province of Rizal.
Geograpy
º It is situated in te province¶s western portion, bounded by te grids 14° 34¶ 24´ nort latitude and 121°
07¶ 48´ east longitude. It sares boundaries wit Cainta in te Nortwest, Antipolo in te Nort-norteast,
Angono in te East-souteast and aguig in te Soutwest. e municipality is sited to East of Pasig City
and to te Nort of Laguna Lake. It as an area of 38.80 km² representing 3.3% of Rizal Province¶s land
area.
º e sape of aytay is rectangular ± trapezoidal wit gently illy rolling terrain on its eastern side wile
relatively flat on its soutwestern side, including te poblacion. e municipality¶s igest elevation
ranges from 200 to 255 meters wic is situated along te inner nort-eastern ills of Barangay Dolores,
alongside te Antipolo Boundary. Its lowest points are from 5 to 20 meters along te soutern portion of
Barangay San Juan and Muzon towards Laguna Lake.
º rom Laguna de Bay, Pasig River runs between aguig City, and aytay, Rizal, before entering Pasig
City.
º e Manggaan loodway lessens flood conditions in Metro Manila by carrying flood waters to Laguna
de Bay, but contributes to flooding of te coastal areas of aguig, aytay, and oter towns in Laguna and
Rizal along te lake.
º e municipality is principally drained by soutwest trending rivers suc as aytay River, Pangulo River,
and Napindan Cannel, all of wic empties into Laguna Lake. aytay River flows across Barangays
Dolores and San Isidro and joins Antipolo River (present course of Manggaan loodway) as it passes
troug te soutern end of Barangays Sta. Ana and San Juan. Pangulo River snakes its way from
upper aytay across Barangay San Juan towards te soutern portion of Barangay Muzon. Napindan
Cannel crosses te soutern boundaries of Barangay Sta. Ana and San Juan as it empties into Laguna
Lake. Bangiad Creek, found at te souteastern limits of te municipality, flows soutwest ward across
Barangay Muzon, extending toward Laguna Lake.

º SM City aytay is a sopping mall owned and constructed by SM Prime Holdings. It is te first SM Supermall in
te province in Rizal. e mall is located in Manila East Road aytay, Rizal. e mall consists of two buildings
interconnected wit a bridge featuring ancors like te SM Hypermarket, SM Department Store, SM Cinemas, SM
oodcourt, atsons, SM Appliance Center, Ace Hardware and various sops and restaurants. ilcon Builders'
Depot also invested in aytay and opened teir one-stop-sop in December 2009. By 2010, te construction of
